Article below does raise a valid point...us this why we are still waiting for many apps available on the legacy devices but not Z10 or Q10?

    http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/06...fragmentation/

Does same apply to android phones i.e. apps needing to be reconfigured for different screens etc? If so doubt BlackBerry have a problem.

    Any views?

Apps for BlackBerry 10 have to be completely rewritten in a different language than what legacy BlackBerrys use to work.

This problem will always exist regardless of screen size.

Android is deployed on a multitude of screen sizes, and the analysts just suck it up.

iOS developers work in several screen ratios too. Ipad apps and iPhone apps are different. Analysts do not mind owning different versions of the same app across different devices.

I think the guys who come up with these fragmentation claims miss the big picture: it is relatively easy to redesign software for any screen size, and it is not an issue, nor does it lead to extreme fragmentation. The issue is always related to business. If it makes sense to sell apps for BlackBerry, they'll invest in the product line to be on every BlackBerry screen.

There was an article on CB not two months ago showing how easy it is to adjust your app for the two different aspect ratios

Not just adjusting apps for screen size but for physically keyboard etc. Or is this not relevant? As if not the case how come there are still a number of apps on the z10 but not q10??

... there should be no need to implement changes for a physical keyboard, unless you're implementing keyboard shortcuts

Valid point but then keyboard shortcuts would have to be implemented as in essence that's the advantage of the q10?

Only if you want to include keyboard shortcuts.
