I was very happy to see that I could use the play on function to send my music to my wd media player and enjoy it via my multi media system.

Has anybody tried to send video this way? I have only done audio.

While I've not tried it, I seem to recall a few folks mentioning it does indeed work with certain WDTV models. Try it and report back!

I have used it and it was awesome. I used Story Maker to build a sideshow from a trip to Africa someone in my household took. I used Playon (DLNA) to send the Story Maker video directly to my TV. It worked a treat.

I have a Samsung smart t.v. It works great now that I got my firewall settings all sorted out.
I just wish they would add a feature in the next update to do screen sharing to send the whole screen to the t.v. So I don't need my micro hdmi anymore when playing n.o.v.a.
Love that my friend asked me how I "got my phone to be a ps3 controller" and wouldn't believe me at first it was playing off my phone"

I did this on my X box 360 but it took over 30 seconds and streaming didn't start, so I just plugged HDMI in there and got it going.

Video, pics and movies all stream flawlessly to my WDTV Live Hub via DLNA. It just needs to be on and not at any particular service or function.

For an HD clip, does it take anyone else some time to start the streaming or is it near instant?

I only wish videos purchased on my phone from BlackBerry world could be streamed to my WD Live. Get an error when I try. I'm not sure if it's DRM or the file type isn't supported. Anyone know?

I have a WDTV Live Streaming Media Player. I share with my WDTV and can play any media files flawlessly if I go from the WDTV to the Z10. However, with PlayOn from the Z10 to the WDTV, I can get as far as it seeing the WDTV player and then a blue circle of death... Then it gives an unsupported media type error (on the Z10). So the communication between devices is clearly there, works perfectly one way, but not the other. As far as I can tell everything is configured properly on the phone and player...

Anyone have the Live Streaming Player, and not the Hub, and been able to use PlayOn? Cheers.

I've done this too but it's so very very slow. Is there a trick to xbmc? Seems to want to buffer the whole video before it starts playing.

    I will try with XBMC.

I rented an episode of The Following and there is the option to Play On but it won't work on my Samsung to. It says "Unsupported File Type". I was able to play a video I put on the phone from my PC but it would repeatedly play for about 15 seconds and then buffer. On wireless N network too (local only, no internet). Any ideas?

I stumbled upon this option by accident but when I tried to play a video, the WD gave me an error message "stating locked device"

    Try going to

Settings --> Media sharing --> Devices --> make sure you're WD device has a check mark next to it to allow media sharing
