I was able to get the New software today to load. Working great.

However. I did a backup before I loaded the software. I wanted to reload the apps (more importantly) the data from the apps to the new software. However I get an incompatible software message when I try to restore.

Specially apps like Noted, I have a lot of notes in. Any way to get that restored? Any advice?

I'm sorry... but this post makes no sense outside of my understanding that u have an OS, it's not working and you want notes from Noted back. What OS are you trying to load? Is it right for your device? Is the backup the thing that is saying it's not compatible? Definitely going to need some clarification.

I understood "I ran os 2.0 for PlayBook on my z10. It worked. For whatever reason, apps aren't compatible. I want them back :sad face:"

After reading your post I understood "Link crapped out on me. I'm surprised "!!!

    Let me clarrify.

    I Have been using a Leaked 2.0 o.s.

Since the official release came today. I did a full backup.

Then I downgraded my o.s. so the blackberry link could automatically upgrade to the New o.s.

After the New O.S. installed, I wanted to restore the data from my other apps, etc. However Blackberry link will not restore anything. It gives me the incompatiable software message. Apps like Noted, Lazy list, etc, I have entered a lot of notes and was hoping to still have access to. I hope that helps.

Okay, still kinda confused. Did you install the PLAYBOOK OS 2.1 leaked update from the forums on your Z10 or the T-Mobile 10.1.0.4xxx MR update? Because if it's the former, nobody here can help you. If it's the latter, that's not a 10.2 OS, it's 10.1, and you can't restore data from an OS that's that much higher, at least not directly. There are threads in the leak sub-forum that detail the process of modifying the manifest file though.

I am sorry for your loss but next time please take the time to backup your phone before rushing to install an OS that isn't intended for the phone when it's clearly stated for the PlayBook only.

    I think he means 10.2, not 2.0.

And he had 10.2, then downgraded to 10.1 and then upgrade to today's 10.1 update. I think they are gone unless he restored 10.2 the backup was done against.

I would hope there's checks to prevent pb load on phone, but not sure.

I think he was running 10.2 and tried to restore it on top of 10.1.0.4200.

That will not work. What also won't work (I tried it) is back-flashing non-destructively to 4200. I thought that might work but it did not -- it appeared to take fine but on the reboot it went to the lock screen and was frozen -- the screen was inop and so was the power button. I wound up having to destructively flash to get out of it.

OP didn't say playbook other poster did.

    OP verify these points

    1. You are talking about a Z10
    2. Give us the file name of the OS you installed. If 1. Is true then the OS should be 10.2 or 10.1 something not 2.0.

He did backup his data, that's not the issue. It's getting that backup to take on his recently updated phone, though we can't figure out which OS he's actually talking about.

Also, the title says the 2.0 that came out today....this leads me to believe its the playbook OS leak. If so, not sure how you would have loaded that on your z10.

BlackBerry PlayBook (tablet, big 7 inch screen) = 2.0 OS

BlackBerry Z10 (cell phone, small screen) = 10 OS, 10.1 OS and 10.2 OS on leaks.

mixing PlayBook OS on Z10 and vice-versa no recommend.

    No. I had a OS 10.2.0.1443 for the Z10

When I uploaded leak after leak in the past, I would then resore, media, application data, etc.

Now I uploaded the new official version - 10.1.4200

However it will not let me restore anything. So It is like I have to start all over, which is what I am doing unless I hear otherwise. Arghhhh

You do realize that 10.2.0.1443 is NEWER than 10.1.0.4200
Are you really surprised that it won't restore?
Yes, there are ways to do it, but why go backwards?
One is a 10.2 OS, the other a 10.1 MR
Of course it won't let you restore.

The problem is that you Downgraded from the leaked 10.2 to 10.1 .. and in general you cannot restore onto older release.
But look at Darcys tool - perhaps you can find some good info here: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...-tools-824364/

Can't use a restore from a newer (higher number) to an older (lower number) os... that's assuming from what I am reading you did a 10.2 to the official 10.1 that came out... if you REALLY need To restore, run xsacha's tool or even darcy's tool I think to modify your restore name to try and trick your setup. much better off running clean... and why may I ask would you go through the trouble of reverting back down if you were already on the new 10.2?
I mean maybe on a stl100-1 I would be tempted, but anything else... so many things you're losing...

Then again, if running a stl100-1... yea the pb2.1 may be tempting lol (please know it's a JOKE DONT TRY TO LOAD)
But I hope you read what you were installing...
