Okay guys, after owning this thing for nearly a month now (I think it has been nearly a month), I figured I might as well tell you what I think. Firstly I'd like to say that this thread is targeted at all those hardcore BlackBerry fans that are still using legacy devices for the productivity. Well, if you aren't willing to read the rest of this post, my advice to you would be DO NOT SWITCH, unless you're going onto the Q10.

Let's see, I've owned a few curves here and there, a few bolds, and the BlackBerry Z10 of course. The sexy white Zed. Coming from the Bold 9650 and 9700, it was quite a jump. Woot, I can finally watch porn on this thing! Okay no, but really, I don't have to worry about clicking on a webpage that isn't mobile friendly. I know that it will load up perfectly. The hub is great. But um, are you honestly telling me that such a feature didn't exist in the old BlackBerry devices (messages folder, containing emails, BBM, WhatsApp, calls, etc). So anyway, I'm drifting away from the topic. The phone's battery life, amazing. The phone's looks, amazing. People can't trash talk about my phone any more. And it multitasks well, I love playing a YouTube video in the background and doing something else just to show off its multitasking ability. I love BlackBerry 10 so much that I'm trying to learn developing for it. I love the way apps use cascades, as I always used to say, I wish this app felt like it was part of the OS, with the same theme, and integrated. Or I wish this app had a similar interface; and now we have it. Am I happy? Yes. Am I content? No.

I think they virtual keyboard is the best out there but did I really adapt to it and are there times I miss my old phone? Think of it this way, if you're with a new girl and you're still missing your ex, follow your heart, you know something's wrong. I would just like to mention that I AM a teenager, 16 years old, and I was one of those people constantly on my phone, one of the fastest typists I know, especially on mobile devices. So yes, I was very into my keyboard, and still am The OS is great, but maybe I should have gone with the Q10. Just maybe... I never really use third party apps on a phone anyways, well on BlackBerry 10 I use CB 10, WhatsApp, Memo Pad and Torch Flash, all of which offer a very "BlackBerry-like" experience. Oh and Battery Lover's always running in the background to tell me the percentage. As much as I love all of this, and never dared using WhatsApp or the CB app before, I really didn't need to. I will not talk to someone simply because I don't like using a third party app on a legacy device. Yes, that did create problems but hell, BBM's going cross platform, so the problem's solved.

Anyway, my point is, I miss my keyboard and I really do think that despite how flashy the phone is, despite how productive it may be, depending on your usage, you may miss out on productivity. I was so frustrated by the way I couldn't type perfectly on my Z10 and I always find myself correcting stuff because with or without autocorrect, I cannot type perfectly. So either way, I'm screwed. I honestly do not know how amazing the Q10 will be, but due to the touch screen OS the smaller screen size may not be ideal. It does have a keyboard though, keep that in mind. So all you legacy device owners, you don't necessarily need to switch, and if you're one of those hardcore keyboard fans who looks away and types at the same time, the Q10 or an old bold is the way to go.

However, for everyone, all those people who aren't too fussed about the virtual keyboard, the phone's amazing. The phone's the best. And the virtual keyboard, is better than the rest.

I just wanted to share this with the community and I wanted to apologise to those people who did try to tell me, some with exaggeration, that the Z10 is "years behind" the legacy devices, in terms of efficiency. Gotta love the exaggeration though. Anyways, 4:50 am, I'm gonna end this post here but feel free to ask me a question about the keyboard experience on the Z10. I know that I really, really wanted to ask someone exactly like me how they feel about it. I wish I would have known you guys aren't that hardcore T_T

So yeah, thanks for reading, and I hope this helps someone.

Lol I think I would have agreed with you up till this past weekend. I got a hold of my friends 9000(yea) and tried typing on it. It wasn't like old times at all! It was horrible! I couldn't believe I used to type on that thing!

The thing about typing on the Z10 is the longer you use it the better it gets as it learns your typing quirks and you learn your most efficient style of typing.

For me, I learned to just start typing and not look at what I've typed. To just trust the space bar to correct all my mistypes and typos. Flicking up longer words as they appear to save keystrokes. Then only looking back before hitting send to fix the odd misinterpretation (which gets rarer all the time. )

I never thought I'd be able to type as fast on a virtual keyboard as I could on a full sized physical keyboard. Now I can and maybe even faster.

That is a fair write up, I started with the Curve then went to the Bold, and now with the Z10 I love the virtual keyboard, but I have big hands and large fingers, so it works for me, but once you get going on the virtual keyboard words pop up, words that you have typed before which is very cool,

One downside to the Z10 is that it's much harder (and dangerous) to type while driving or not looking as compared to a curve or bold. It was hard to give that up but it was a fair trade to have the full screen and I adapted my habits accordingly. Do I miss losing that and becoming somewhat handicapped..yes. Do I feel that the bigger screen on a Z is worth it...yes.
I can actually type faster on a Z10 if I'm looking at the screen, but if I'm not... that's when I wish I had the keyboard on my 9900.

It's a personal choice and I understand it's not for everyone.

    i totally disagree.

I own both a q and z and find the z to be a much, much more enjoyable device to use. I can also type faster on it and get more done.

    but thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading everyone, and feel free to disagree with me, obviously this was just my opinion and others may find the keyboard much better. I can actually type "very fast" on the Z10 but I feel more comfortable with the keyboard and no matter how fast I can type with it I'll miss my physical keyboard, especiially when I'm touch typing as fast as I can, my fingers get strained a little due to the fact that it isn't ergonomic. I use so many custom words that auto correct just isn't for me. I did use it a lot initially though.

But yes, I do love my phone, I'd love if I could swap it for a Q10 though. Once again, thanks for reading my rant xD I hope that some hardcore keyboard guy will believe me :P

I feel really better typing on z10 as compared to other phones.
I really like the correct gestures for deleting an entire word... That has really improved the efficiency with which I used to type on my z10...
Its personal preference and some might like the qwerty keyboard more than the virtual one...
But IMHO, the keyboard on the z10 is the best among all the touch screen phones out there

do not understand why with the Z10 find it me impossible to use and even to install skype. It is a restriction for those who are in Africa - cutter of ivory. This is frustrating. I just just acquire the Z10 but I want to change.

I miss the accuracy of my Torch keyboard but.... my sister keeps handing me her 9900 to type on and I can't believe how fast muscle memory reprograms itself because I could not type on the thing. I ended up handing it back to her and bbming my niece her computer instructions on my Z10.

I got my Z10 launch week in Canada so I've had it for a bit. Something I've noticed, my brain has reprogrammed to swipe. The feature I thought was kinda neat but kinda useless when I got the phone has turned into my most used input method. I now miss it on other phones.

One more thing, I got my very first Windows 8 computer on the weekend, a convertible Ultrabook. I cannot stop trying to swipe up from the bottom on the thing. I am be coming so frustrated with it I'm starting to regret buying it. It's not even a matter of what I'm used to, it's just.... it's a mess.

I went from a Bold 9780 to a Z10 and I don't regret it one bit. Sure the tactile feedback is nice but I'm blazing fast on this keyboard.
