Please tell me I'm mis-reading the available LTE radio frequencies on the Z10. Both the major networks here in Australia use the 1800 MHz band. It's not on the FCC spec sheet.

RIM is seriously going to try and release this phone without the 1800 MHz band? The most popular LTE band in the world?

I can't believe they would do that. Someone set me straight!

I believe it's been stated there's only going to be 2 versions of the Z10. One for the NA market and an international version. Only the NA version is going to support LTE.

Here's a list of countries and the bands they use. A lot of them just use 1800 MHz. I think this is a very grave error on RIMs part.

RIM wouldn't submit any devices not for the US market to the FCC. Also, it's obvious what they submitted to the FCC, different versions of the same handset to cover the different frequencies used by the various carriers.

ATT LTE bands 17/4
Verizon LTE bands 13
Sprint LTE bands 25

And most likely, a T-Mobile version without LTE, or else a US Cellular version with band 12.

Addendum: Just FYI, but Apple also submitted multiple iPhone 5 models at the same time to the FCC.... I don't think anybody's expecting a new iPhone 5 anytime soon.

Why is everyone getting so worked up over this? You guys are acting as if the people at RIM don't know how to do their jobs and have no insight on the industry. I am pretty sure that they will be selling in major markets such as Australia as well and with LTE. It would not make sense if they did not as they already sell BlackBerry devices in these countries anyway

As I mention in the comments on that post EE in the UK has confirmed that they will have a 4g bb10 model, so clearly those specs are incomplete and there will be a GSM/LTE RoW variant that will cover things like the live networks in markets such as UK, DE and Aus.

The 2nd BB10 FCC filing for the RFH121LW https://apps.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicat...tml?id=1871667:

RFH121LW also supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800 MHz, UMTS/HSPA+ Bands I & VIII, and LTE Bands 3, 7, 8, & 20 that are not operational in North America, therefore no data is presented in this report for those bands.

Band 3 is the 1800 MHz that both Optus and Telstra use. This is the device that they didn't supply pics of.

The RFF91LW was definitely one of the Z's and supports LTE Bands 2, 5, 4 and 17.


What worries me is that the RFF91LW for the US doesn't support HSPA or WCDMA on the 2100 MHz band which makes it less of a world phone than my Bold 9900. The other one has bands I and VIII which is 2100 and 900 WCDMA/HSPA+. I was worried that to get LTE I'd lose true world phone UMTS/HSPA support and that looks to be the case. Hopefully the London without LTE will be an option for me and be a true world phone because I don't want LTE at the expense of inferior international capability!

T-Mobile USA will have LTE on AWS bands in 2013. I dont see why they wouldnt launch Z10 w/o them

HSPA+ bands for TMO AWS 1700/2100mhz, and with refarm 1900 PCS spectrum.
LTE is AWS 1700/2100mhz.

Also does anyone know if HSPA+ in Z10 is HSPA+ 14.4 (---- whats in 9900 now) , or 21, or 42?

When did he say that, we know for certain there is at least one HSPA variant for the l-series.

No, if the leaked devices specs hold up, there will be one version of the L that has no LTE and will be using the OMAP 4470 chip, and two LTE versions using Qualcomm S4 chips. There are still plenty of markets/carriers that don't need an LTE phone because of no LTE service, and one of the BB10 phones will be tailored for these type of carriers and likely be at a lower price point too.

I'm looking for better 3G/4G transitions on Verizon, so far they can't do it very well.
