    Hey everybody,
So I was at a play the other day and wanting to check the time on my Z10, I realised that even when the brightness was at its minimum, it was still too bright. Whereas all my friends on their other phones (even old BlackBerrys) could put their brightness really low.

I was wondering if there is a way to lower the brightness even lower than when it is at its minimum on the phone; like maybe a third-party app or something.

    Thanks a lot !

Sounds like a good problem to have. I am not sure, but perhaps there are some third party apps in appworld?

What OS are you on? The first OS had pretty bright parameters.

Depending on which STL you have, you should have access to these settings...in 1055

yes on .1055 you can check white balance, if not on that os you only have the os parameters to go low on brithgness

Regardless of the white balance, the problem is that the auto brightness is baked into the software so that when you change the brightness on the slider the auto brightness kicks in. I wish there was a button specifically for auto brightness.

Not sure if this can be run on BB10 or not. It's a common problem with LCD in dark rooms.

I'm using this on my N5 and would have loved it for my Z10.

Interesting. Have never come across a " I can't get the screen brightness lower" comment.
Next time you want to check the time, tap the power button instead.

Just a hunch, but I suspect if you are in direct sunlight, brightness will default to maximum. At least that's what it does on the PlayBook. I hadn't verified it on Z10.

I have multiple people wanting the same things as I do and I bet others do. The luminosity is still too high when you're in the dark.

What would tapping the power button change ? It's exactly what I did to check the time.

Yeah the "too bright" was only an issue using the phone in total darkness. Anything else was great, one of the reasons I love lcd is for its visibility outdoors.

Nothing different. I read your original post too fast and misinterpreted what you said differently than how you had meant.
No need to get all in a tizzy.
It's just a matter of fact statement.
I have never heard anyone say that the screen needs to be dimmer. I laughed actually.
I can hear the arguments now "......oh yeah..... well my Android can dim better than your BlackBerry....."

Unfortunately I don't think you can get the white balance feature on the 100-1
