If you pop open the web browser, and type in the following address, you can find audio files for all of the system bleeps and bloops:
file:///usr/share/sounds/
Sick it worked. Thanks!

I didn't know you could browse the file system in this manner. Sweet!

That's so awesome, I just tried it and worked. Wish I knew all those little tricks for my phone. Thanks for the tip!

I use the file:/// to open my own homepage in the Browser. I just point the file to a full path to a homepage.html file and it immediately opens in the browser. If you point to certain file types, the browser will actually open the file, i.e. pictures.
It should work the same on the q10. It has been this way since the Playbook. Very handy.
If you just enter
file:/// you will be way up the folder structure. Just nose around looking and navigating up and down the directory/folder trees.
Here's a route to the sd card
file:///accounts/1000/removable/sdcard/
sorry F2 but seems I can't save the file to sd card,

What are you trying to do? Copy the actual tone file? You can open the file (so it plays), then press the MORE icon (lower right) and pick share and email it. You might be able to use Ghost Commander (bb world) to find the folder and copy stuff.
oh I see Thanks for explaining

Thanks, great to know!! Can this f:/// be used to get to app data such records for Notes in Remember, Contacts, and text messages? If so, what directory or folder?
You can look around but I have a feeling those "files" if they are individual files rather than some conglomeration, may be is some internal storage location. But I don't know. I'm kind of surprised that one can access those tones - in some cases, BB has secured such files, making them impossible to copy.
No, because this is not a security hole. All the same protections any app would have are still in place. While you could construct a long and complicated URL to the sandbox directories for those apps, you'd get an error if you tried going there. These sound files are world-readable because several different apps need access to them to play standard system sounds.
Thanks, not looking for a security hole, glad to hear about the protection; am interested in a way to back up without using Link, which is a major inconvenience regrettably.
