    Hey guys,

I have a 1 month old Z10 on Rogers in Canada.

I have updated my phone to the latest software, but I keep getting notifications of a new OS, and it is ALWAYS 10.0.10.85.

I have "updated" to 10.0.10.85 3 times now, and I have yet another notification for this same update.

It keeps saying the same thing "this update offers improvements to battery life, general improvements, and support for third party applications".

Why is it doing this? I'm kind of confused...

Same issue. Tried to backup my phone in attempt to restore the phone. Won't even backup anymore. So I'm unsure...

I read on the forums that if you delete some applications, it will detect the OS as being not "up to date" hence the update notification.

If you delete default apps like foursquare, facebook, twitter, etc. The phone will prompt you for a small update to put it back on your phone. If that's not the case, that it beats me.

You're probably deleting one of the Rogers apps like My Account or Sportsnet

Yup, that is exactly it. I rn the full update, then deleted the apps I didn't want, like foursquare, linked in, sportsnet, anyplace tv, etc...a few days later, I get an os update notification. the update was only about 30mb, installed it and all the apps were back!

So I ended up dragging them all into a folder and called it "Unused".

I guess there might be some money to carriers involved on this one. Kind of like advertising for the software companies I guess.

yeah, that's the problem with deleting the core apps/carrier pushed apps with the OS update.

Suggest searching the issue as many threads have been posted about this. Also putting said apps in a separate folder instead of deleting the apps and having to get the notification for the update over and over...

I also deleted sport net. And yes, Rogers wants you to have it on your phone (no thanks!).
When the phone shows a software update, just look at the release # (10.0.10.85). If it's the same release #, just ignore it.

Hi, if you delete apps that are pushed by your carrier (i.e. Rogers and Sportsnet), I've had the same issue. After updating Sportsnet is reloaded... I've just created a Rogers folder and don't intend to use any of their apps. No longer receiving 10.0.10.85 update messages... not the greatest solution imo, but no longer getting annoying messages to update the OS that is already updated.
    hope this helps.

Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering if something was wrong with my Z10 but now it makes sense.
