I will use my BB 9780 forever or until BB will support OS 7.0
I can get all my emails when traveling outside the country for $19.99 a months or $5 a week, prorated

Z10 will get emails through international data roaming, so my friends good luck
you cant use BIS/Bim on the Z10

My friends who use IPhones and Android phones internationally come back with $500 phone bills
ALL US carriers are like our banksters, they are taking us to the cleaners. Time to revolt

The EU has enforced price control on international roaming, voice and data. I can make a call from Germany to Austria on my Austrian SIM card for 9 Euro-cents. In the US its 49 to 99 US cents

consider phone companies as Utilities and regulate them

before I leave the US I forward all my BB calls to my Vonage number, which transcribes the voice message into an email and an voice message. I than call back to the US from my BB using the UMA function with WIFI for free
for International calls I use my Playbook and COMWAVE

plus I have for most countries I visit a local SIM card, which I use in an unlocked BB 8230, where I can do texting
    aswell

If you are traveling into the EU, just pick up a SIM card from Yoigo...of course, you will have to unlock you phone to do that. So, how is doing all this on a Z10 any different than what you are already doing other than you don't have to buy a Z10 to do it?

Over the last three years, we've been helping BBRY stay relevant in the market by pitching this money-saving feature; "BB saves you money while roaming. Big Time."

This is no longer true. BB used to be a really good data compressor for both BES connections and BIS connections.

With BBRY dropping BIS support for BB10, only BES users will be able to enjoy some compression in some features on their phones. Saving data while roaming is no longer a selling point to our customers; corporate or otherwise.

    That was my point

I will keep a BB7.0 phone when my 9730 breaks
    T-Mobile sells a new BB 9315 for about $199, it a G3 phone
plus I will use my Playbook 2.0 bridged for internet

no need to break the bank when traveling internationally

    Plus I have a Huawei E586 Mobile WiFi HSPA+ 21Mbps Hotspot

Just to validate this thread, I used to have a Bold 9700 which kept restarting on me so I bought a Z10. I had the international email plan transferred to the new phone but as soon as I arrived in Germany I found out that I racked up close to 1,000$ of data in a few hours. I called T-Mobile and after talking to a bunch of people a BB10 specialist confirmed that the Z10 does not support the international roaming BB plan. They waived the charges, but this baby is going right back to the store!

My daughter who has a 9900 is traveling to France, UK and Ireland in July spending a week each in each country. How much is a local sim with enough data subscription that would enable her to BBM us in the US? Or just let her roam since data on the 9900 is compressed anyway and she won't go to youtube unless on wifi? and it may be more cost effective than buying 3 sims with data subscription in each country?

BlackBerry was always designed for the business user and as such gained a monster market share so they could make demands on the carriers. When people decided to jump ship to other manufacturers due to the fact that they wanted entertainment features and gaming on their phones and blackberry didn't adapt fast enough to meet their needs they lost a lot of market share so they can't make demands to the carriers anymore. The big contention carriers have always had with berry was that they had to pay a fee to access BlackBerry servers and the data compression made getting a more expensive data plan unnecessary. So to get as many carriers on board for the launch of BB10 they had to cave to the carriers.

So... the phone gets rejected because because by human error you didn't have an appropriate data plan for international use? Duhhh!

You will find the competing smartphones have exactly the same data usage and whatever international plan your carrier supports for iPhone or Android smartphones will also work for Z10, with the same costs.

That is not true. I have a BIS data plan from Starhub Singapore where I pay like USD 60 for unlimited roaming worldwide. I once roamed 9,000 USD in the USA and still paid only USD 60 flat rate. I use the Bold 9900 because it has a powerful processor for browsing but for speed of internet, I use the playbook tether to the BB9900 via bridge for internet browsing. My BB9900 has a Seidio 3800mA battery so it never runs out of juice feeding the playbook.

I also have the Z10 but never use it for international data roaming. Only for wifi browsing

Same problem here. Just talked to T-mobile who are helpless and can only confirm the facts, but have no control over e situation. I guess the way to go is to return the Z19 and go back to the Os 7, accepting the prehistoric level of the phones you get with it.

local prepaid SIM card have voice only running on GSM 2,5 or Edge, most prepaid SIM cards do not have data
and you need a data plan to get your emails on a Z10, Q10 or Q5

T-Mobile just launched a flat rate international roaming package for business accounts. I just talked to the rep and get the following:
    $25 for 150MB
    $60 for 400MB
    $120 for 1GB

The cap is for high speed data, once the cap has reached, the speed will reduce to EDGE but will not incur any overage.

Also, this new plan is not compatible with the $19.99 BB International Roaming and the new plan do not offer pro-rated but must stay on for the whole month. At least, this is a relief that my business account users do not have to worry about the $15/MB roaming fee from now on.

    thank you for that
now how many people have a business account or can anyone prevail for that rate
$25 for 150 mb should do for emails, overage is Edge 2.5 which is still ok for emails
does it has to be a calendar months or can it be from the 15th to the next month 14th

the next question is. can this 150 mb be used for UMA WIFI calls, Skype calls on the Z10, Q10, or Q05

with my 9780 I can make UMA calls over WIFI back to the US just using minutes of your monthly plan
    just wondering

ok, here is my experience/point of view... i have a BBOS phone, unlocked, since i travel a lot due to my job... i haven't decided just yet to get a BB10 for several reasons... now, when i travel, normally this is what i do: i have international roaming in one sim card, which i use to tell my wife that i arrived safe after landing in each flight or arriving to my hotel (if i have wifi in an airport lounge, i use it instead of roaming), for this service i pay about 20usd for only 5mb... then, in the first opportunity, i go to any carrier with prepaid bb plans, normally they have plans per time (7, 15, 30 days)... depending how long i will stay in each country, i buy the pertinent plan... actually, since i go to the same countries in general, i have some sim cards already and very often i have signal but i need to reload the plan and don't need to go the the carrier store (so i have the same number than the last time i was in that country)... now, with BB10 i understand there is no BIS, so i thought ok, i will get once i am at the carrier store, a prepaid data plan instead of BB plan... i have no idea if this will be cheaper or not than BIS plans, i will need to check in every country... just for kicks, i just checked the plans in the last country i was (chile)... there you have a carrier with prepaid BB plans for 7, 15 and 30 days for about 7, 12 and 22 usd, i believe unlimited (no streaming or internet to computer it says)... the service is ok, not reliable, slow in many occasions, emails arriving late or not even arriving...checking in the same carrier the main difference with a prepaid data plan is the amount of data (which in BB plans doesn't exists)... then you have plans from 1 day, 30mb for 2 usd, or 7 days, 100 mb for 5 usd, or 30 days, 200 mb, 500 mb, 1 gb or 3 gb for 8, 10, 20 or 30 usd... in my case, i stay from 10 days to 30 days, and many times traveling to 2 or 3 countries one after the other... so to me it would be too expensive to use my sim card with international roaming all the time, BBOS or BB10, so i need to use a local sim... my adjustment would be the amount of data (30 days with BB plan would be 20 usd unlimited and bad service, with data plan 20 usd would give me just 1 gb, and i am pretty sure with a better service since it's not delayed by the BIS processing)... if i want more data (3 gb), i will need to pay 30 usd... so yes, it will be a bit more expensive, but using a local sim card would be mandatory...
