Anyone have any experience with trying to watch home videos on a TV through HDMI?

When I try, I only get a box (rectangle) in the middle of the screen and have not been successful in trying to get it to "stretch" across the screen. Is there a specific setting for this or is this typical ? My playbook was able to stretch across the screen, so not sure if I'm missing something here.

Mine still doesn't fill the entire screen. There is black bars on either side. Does yours have the black bars on either side?

Is your phone portrait or landscape?

On all of my tvs its actually a little too large with the hdmi cable, the edges of the screen get cut off (but it doesn't cause a problem with using it in anyway).

The same problem happens with my PlayBook and Samsung series 9 (I use the same cable for all three) so it's not specific to my phone

When held in Landscape mode and resolution shows 1920x1080.

You need to set your to setting to "Just Scan" or "Actual Size" or "No Over scan". It's something like that I don't know how Samsung words it on your tv. It is cut off because your setting is over scanning the picture.

Thanks a lot, will try this now. As for the Samsung, I think there are settings after swiping in from right of touch pad and clicking display or something. It wasn't that bad it was just annoying!

Mine fills the entire screen, the black bars might be your to not being in wide/panaromic mode
