Z10 Hardware issue or just my typical use?-img_00000856.png

These two pictures are of a standard workday on Telus 4G and of my device in airplane mode over night.

I'm posting these two pictures on the hope that people will agree that I might have a hardware, specifically a radio issue.

I've had my device since Feb 5th.

The day time use is around Edmonton use, BT on. ALL other known battery saving rules being followed. I'm currently running Z10STL100-3/10.2.0.93 but no leaks etc have made any difference since original OS.

I believe I have possible hardware issues of some type, purely because other Z10 owners I know Round town, which exceeds 20 people ALL get over 12+ hours during their workdays and none of them even know about battery saving, so all have wifi on, location services on etc etc.

I have owned three batteries since launch, so I suspect it's not the batteries. I don't really care that I need to carry a spare, I'm just not happy knowing that longer battery life is possible.

I would consider sending it away and going with my white 9900 for a few weeks if I was certain I had a hardware issue.

    Thoughts fellow users?

    Cheers

    Steve

10.2.093? Or did you mean 10.0.093? And if so I thought all Canadian carriers were running 10.1.

What are you using? BBM, CB, Youtube? Constant is what it looks like. How many emails? and how often do they sync?

I should add that I unlocked my device a few months ago, but have never tested the BELL sim card.

I say check for updates with Telus because I'm sure they should be on10.1. If not, pop the bell sim in and update. Its quick and easy. I had to do that for my first update since my carrier didn't push the first update through until 10.1.

Yikes guys, slow down and read. I'm running a leak Z10STL100-3/10.2.0.93. It hasn't mattered what I run, Telus official at launch, Telus 10.1. X.X or whatever. Hence my belief it's hardware. One Gmail account. Set to Push and sync at 24 hours. I'm in the flooring business, so most of my day is spent in retailers stores and NOT using my device.

    I agree.
To the OP, my mistake to originally think it was a typo. I thought I read "no leaks" but it was "no leaks have worked".

BlackBerry for life. Kick'n it with my Z10.

Steve hey, almost sounds like mine, owned since Jan 30th.

Try this for a few days. It should make a difference with standby.

SD card? What type of card do you have? Is it a class 10? Have you reformatted it with your Z? There seems to be an issue with the Z and some SD cards. Pull your card and see what Battery Guru says after that.

Steve do you have a holster that has a built in magnet that puts your device to sleep

Because you don't use your device a lot when it's idle the magnet holster really cuts down on battery usage

Sitting here having a morning coffee and took 2 screen shots holster for a bit pulled it out and started using it to show you the difference

This bottom one is after being in the holster and I just pulled it out to show you the difference

Thanks for the tips, sadly I use all of them anyway and have since launch, in fact my screen brightness is far lower than the one suggested by one of you. I thought that the overnight airplane mode drain pic I posted was enough proof that this is hardware, unless 2+% or more drain per hour being essentially off is acceptable.

Here's the SD card, not a clue what "class" it might be. Shall I buy another one?

That's a class 2 or 4 card. See how your phone does without the card installed. Post back with the results please.

It is not your use. I have the same issue with my early Feb Z10 from Telus. I have given up tweaking and it is going back to BlackBerry for inspection. There seems to a delay in getting it serviced though. Makes me wonder if there is a long line forming.

Ok, SD card has been out for the last four hours. I'm now of the belief that it's hardware. Not sure how much it will cost for me to convince Telus to let me send it back, but I think that's my next step. I don't care that I can throw in another battery, I just don't want to own a device that might have issues. I will go back to my 9900 or 9860 for a few weeks. If someone doesn't feel that three hours with the SD card, is a long enough test, please let me know.

The only real fix, but temporary, that worked for mine was doing a security wipe. I would get a solid week of 24-36 hrs battery life. Then but would slide back to 6. Same usage. Makes me think it is a OS issue.

Hi I'm just new to this forum and crackberry,
My Z10 has rebooted almost 7 times everyday since last week, I'm a heavy user using photo apps, maps and messaging.
    Any one of you who can help let me know. The provider just wants to send me another used one that's the only solution they have;
while I don't want to part with the one I have not being a tech person to deal with the data on it.
