I've seen a few videos on YouTube similar to this post showing a Z10 transferring a picture to an S3

I can't get this to work no matter what I try. Any ideas?

You need to turn off S beam on the galaxy device

Tried it with s beam off, still didn't work. The transfer progress bar never opened. Made the same sound as the video so I guess the process starts but that's it.

Interesting I haven't had a issue when I transferred with a S2. However I think Samsung has been pretty stupid with their NFV tech as of late seemingly almost proprietary

I transfer back and forth to buddy's note2 and S3 quite often. Not sure what we're doing different than you. Make sure both phones are enabled NFC, then share via NFC, then hold the phones together till they buzz

Alright, I tried all of these suggestions and nothing worked. The phone(s) buzz, but no transfer ever starts.

I did notice an error when trying to send a picture from the S3 to the Z10- something about the file size. I didn't think this would work as I thought the NFC was small bits of data (<160 bytes?) unless some proprietary way was used lime S-Beam.

I had gotten another error on the Z10 when S-Beam was on, and I expected this.

Am I missing something about putting the S3 into some sort of auto accept mode? Does the transfer only work from Z10 to S3?

    Frustrating.

Z10 and Android transfers are unreliable. I have never gotten it to work on a Verizon S3 or DROID DNA but I've gotten it to work with the Note2 on att and sprint. No transfer with att One X either.

For me I've had more failures than success for cross platform nfc. When it did work it was limited to only pictures contacts don't transfer.

the only Android device I have actually gotten NFC to transfer to Z10 with is the Nexus 4.

All other devices, GS3 and HTC One, don't work.

    Here's what I do...

Turn off s beam on Samsung .. turn off confirmations on Z10 in NFC settings

Send picture by NFC and rub the phones together back to back until you see the receiving screen have a loading bar come up

It's a little fiddly, but works every time for me and my buddy. Just tried it again an hour ago for this thread

I've tried sending files via NFC to my wife's S3 and vice versa. It works. But don't really find this function useful as most times my NFC is switched off.

And I'm right to say, all it does is to pair it via bluetooth automatically? Cos when I tried with the S3, bluetooth automatically switched itself on.

I have similar issue. The buzz and then nothing happens. Then I turned on sbeam and touched the phone and it buzzed and then asks me to touch the video file again to beam and when I do that, my z10 says the file is incompatible with BlackBerry nfc.

I even tried nfc transfer with another z10 nothing ever happens.

Also most of the time when I try to turn off my nfc it does not turn off even tho it shows off.

What do you guys think it is?

S beam is proprietary to Samsung only and needs to be turned off. I'm not sure what else your doing wrong if u follow my instructions above. The only thing I found is that when it buzzes you need to hold the phones together in that spot and about 3 seconds later the loader will appear on one of the screens. Literally have transfered dozens of pics and music

take it like this. for now the deployment of NFC is still basically within the same environment e.g BB to BB, galaxy to galaxy, lumia to lumia. that's when you have 90+% success rate BUT if you go the extra mile at least for now then good luck as you'll find problems with that. its not the NFC's fault as in general the NFC antenna is always open to any transmission but the OS might take that differently.

The NFC is just doing the bluetooth pairing and initiate the file sharing for you. The transfer is still through bluetooth.

This has been working for literally well over a year now. I've done it with an S3 and an original Dev Alpha and it worked flawlessly.
