I use Creative labs earphones. For the price (20) they match beats/bose. Also ditch the built in player, and purchase Neutron off BlackBerry World. You won't be disappointed.

If you had experience listening music on a studio monitor headphones or headphones at the same range of Sennheiser HD600, you will know that Apple earphones are just crap.

Bose is good for noise cancelling, but the music isn't that much resolving. Beats if what you listen are hip hop or electronic music. Sennheiser for the best experience. I love Sony only for its studio monitor headphone (V6 and 7506) very durable and sturdy.

Mines didn't come with ear buds, least you got some. But best buds out the box hands down are the HTC One those things are amazing and the best quality I've heard out the box.

Different markets bundle different ear buds with the phones. You need to be careful in your comparisons because they differ from market to market and over time. In Canada when I got the Z10 the buds were passable and small so you can lay down with them in your ears. The Q10 buds i got from a fried are better but larger physically. If music is your thing buy some proper over ear head phones.

If you can get your hands on the previous generation BlackBerry headset (not the multimedia ones but the ones with the rubber interchangeable buds) for cheap you'll be pleasantly surprised. I listen to a pretty wide spectrum of genres off those like house, live records, instrumentals, jazz, various bands, and vocal podcasts and I can't really complain.

For music the Z10 earphones aren't too good unless that's all you've heard along with other similar earphones.

I use Jaybird Bluebud's outside and they sound amazing. I also bought some Comply foam tips for them which transformed the sound. Also, the larger the foam tip the greater the bass. I assume this works with all earphones which can be fitted with Comply tips.

I have never used Beats but assume the bass of my Jaybird's wouldn't seem so loud in comparison.

Let us know what you go for OP (y)

Headphones will put lots of load on Z10 battery and moreover output will be less so no headphones only earbuds or earplugs

Sounds reasonable. I'm using older BlackBerry earbuds sold for $1.5 each. They are fantastic.

I use a pair of Sennheiser CX-300 II's I bought them for $36.99 from Best Buy they list for $59.99 but they are on sale quite often. They produce some of the best sound of any ear buds I've used, no cable noise, a well designed right angle plug and good isolation. I'm on my third pair since 2009.
