Hi Guys,

I picked up a Z10 this afternoon, it has been on the charger plugged into the wall for over an hour and it still will not turn on.
All i get on the screen is a red battery icon with the charging symbol in the middle and the yellow flashing light.

is this normal? should I just leave it on all night and see what happens? normally after an hour the phone should at least turn on... no?

have you tried a different outlet.
It doesnt look like its getting any power at all.

the yellow light is blinking so it's doing something I guess.
I have tried another outlet and it's the same thing.

I know with my past android devices sometimes it'd take up to 4 hours of charging without touching it for it to turn back on

If it still doesn't turn on might need to test with a different battery to see if it's the battery or phone

If nothing happens I'd take it back and get a new one.

Well I'd return it for two reasons.

1. I've gotten two Z10s so far and they were both half charged out of the box.

2. And this is the most important so I saved it for last... how can you wait overnight to play with your new toy!?

tried 2 different outlets. its been over 3 hours and still nothing...

you have a bad charger, a bad battery, or a lemon. where'd you get the phone?

You know there used to be a trick for legacy BlackBerrys when they wouldn't charge that I haven't tried on the z10.

Basically you remove the battery
Plug phone to a wall charger
Replace battery
Leave phone to charge for an hour or two.

I'd give this a try and see if it works. This fix "jump starts" a charging circuit when a battery is so depleted that it can no longer charge.

Try a different cable next. If it's not the outlet, then it's the cable or the phone / battery.

Are contacts fully made? Have you been sure all is making contact?

While it's charging squeeze a dead mole over your head and sing "Normalerweise". That should do it.

Happened to me, youre not the only one. I had it for exactly a week. I returned it and got another one. End of story. I felt like I was the first case because I couldn't find anything on CB about it. Hope its not a widespread problem. My new one is fine now.
