I hope it's an issue with my Z10 only!

I've never tried midi files on my BlackBerry. But maybe you should convert them to .mp3's, no? A midi file is really an old file type...

A MIDI file is not a recording of music but is more an instruction set used by a device to play music. You need a software or hardware synthesizer to play it.

And yet, the legacy BlackBerry's could play midi. In fact, some of the old BBOS system ringtones were in midi format.

And I had some of them copied to my z10 but did not realize that they were useless until now. I thought maybe they could be used for notifications but, when I just tried, "can't play xxx.midi" so I might was well remove them from my z10's ringtone folder! (maybe I will convert them)

That was what I had to do.

That's my point exactly! I really took it for granted! And now I need to send those files to pc just to know how they sound like... It's not a big deal but... It's a sad discovery for me... Will just have to adapt and move on (or write my own midi player lol) by the way even the PlayBook can't play midi files...

Since midi files can be played on my Playbook, I'm guessing that they can also be played on your Z10. You just need an app that is capable of playing them. On my playbook, Meridian Player, ES File Explorer's internal music player, and X-Plore File Manager's internal music player, all can play midi files, and I suspect others will as well. All of these apps are sideloaded android ports.

On my 9900, I loaded 5,000+ video game midi's that I put all on shuffle to bring me my dose of nostalgia.....all day/night/bedtime.

Now, bb10 no longer supports midi.

    Until, on my Q10:
    I sideloaded "Snap"

    Downloaded "Meridian Player"

    Put my MIDI's in:
    Q10:/media/music/midi/NES/Mario.mid

    PLAYS my Drugs.

Almost all old phones played Midi files and sounded like coleco game machines, but we eventually moved on to playing recordings.
