The "feel like" temperature in Toronto is 113 farenheit. No problems when I was out for a few hours.

I work in hot environments (don't ask) so my phone is always hot and no way to cool it down untill i get home. I can't measure the device temp. but i know that with 3g on, calls and some e-mailing it gets too hot to keep it in my hand (!!) since it has to work for me, i worked to buy this so it must do some work in return, i just hope that it won't fail. Thermal paste can be the issue, too much is wrong but less is even worse. -2 made in mexico in a european country, unlocked with 10.1.273 (latest??) installed.

If there are problems on a hot day, in use, it would more than likely be heat transfer from the hand on the back of the phone making it warmer than usual.....

Nice to know that there's another BlackBerry in the Chicago land area! Btw try installing the last leak 10.1.6 something you won't have any of the rebooting issues and you'll like your phone much better!

I live in Las Vegas, NV where a couple weeks ago we had a heat wave which put us close to 120 and my Z10 worked perfectly. I had no issues.

It has been over 110 here in Arizona and my Z10 is fine. You need to install a leak and get away from that carrier os. At this point Verizon is intentionally sabotaging BlackBerry by not pushing out an update.

Had that freeze problem but I caused it. I disassembled my phone for a specific reason. When the main board is removed, the thermal transfer putty--which thermally ties the CPU to an aluminum frame--gets messed up. I took it apart again and redid the thermal paste. No problems since then. I wonder if the OP's phone has an issue with that thermal transfer paste.
Given the many posts suggesting no problems with heat, I wonder if you are onto something. I don't have confidence in my ability to take the phone apart as you have, but I may look into having someone else do this. Today, my phone is flawless. I was inside all day in an air conditioned office. Thank you

OP, I work in the automotive field myself, so I'm outside for a large part of the day. Haven't had a problem with my Z10, and I'm not far from you in NW Indiana so the temps are quite similar. Maybe you got a lemon. Try to return it, see what happens.

I may look into this. It sounds like my situation is unique to me, Verizon and possibly version 10.0.

I have since updated my phone to a leaked OS, 10.1.0.4687 and my performance has improved ten fold. I have not experienced the overheating issue since. Although, Chicago has been pretty cool of late. This is the first time I have uploaded a leaked OS ever, even though I have been a BB user for 12 or 14 years. As good as my phone is working, my positive experience may encourage me enough to download 10.2 sometime in the future. I cannot imagine the frustration other Verizon users are having with their phones still on OS 10.0. I endured 10.0 way too long!

The phone should be able to work up to about 42 Celsius. Above that temperature it could become instable. This applies to most electronic devices unless specifically designed for high temperature use. I cannot remember the official spec for the maximum temperature.

There are specialized industrial and military electronic products that can work in areas of 60 to 80 Celsius. This is very hot! The internal components would have to be rated to work above 100 Celsius. The product cost would also reflect this!
