I live in the caribbean and went to purchase my z10 today from lime only to hear that it no longer uses the blackberry data plan. It now uses the same data\apn as android and iphone. This really sucks. I think blackberry shot themselves in the foot here. The blackberry plan was cheaper and much better. Is this the case for everyone(world wide) now as well? No more exclusive blackberry network.

yes this has been known since release that BBOS 10 will not longer use BIS plans. All carriers should be the same

Sad, sad, sad, but true nonetheless. My data usage has about quadrupled since the Z10 came into my life. Data compression was a real wonder that is no more.

The Z10 can use data from a BIS plan. If your carrier will let you keep it, and it's cheaper go for it.

It may not be the same for all carriers, but here on VIVO, I am still using BIS on my Z10, getting 3G/HSPA+ speeds (that means 1-3kmbps, my carrier sucks) and enjoying unlimited till they actually have proper 4G in place.

You guys may wanna check if you can just get the device and say "yeah yeah, I'll deal with the data later".

You could use the bis plan, just don't take the plan when you buy it
When you get home get your regular bis plan and it should work, I've seen some folks in Trinidad get it
