When i went to bed last night i notice something weird with my z10 that i put near my pillow next to my ear, i hear a clicking noise came out of it,
then just to make sure that the phone make the noise, so i pick it up and start to press it against my ear, and surely i can confirm it was from the phone.

Then i try to locate the source of the noise, the most audible part was from the earpiece, so i think that this is the source of that noise.
Can someone else confirm this issue ?.

    Here's the condition :
    - Z10 model STL100-2
    - OS version 10.0.10.90
    - When idle, lock the screen with lock button above the earpiece
    - Wait for it about 30sec to one minute.
    - The clicking noise only audible in very quiet environment (try it when your home)
    - When the screen goes on again, the noise is gone.

    My Configuration :
    - Battery Guru app running
    - Lockscreen can be opened with swiping from below the screen even when the screen turned off

Ya, this is being reported on a lot of new smartphones for some reason. When I used to go on the XDA for my last phone, the Nexus 4, many people were reporting this issue, and I had it since the say I got it until I sold it. I haven't really tried to listen to it carefully enough on my Z10, but I'm pretty sure it's there. I wonder if it has anything to do with the LTE antennas these new phones are using causing some interference or something.

This may have to do with the audio amplifier that drives the ear-speaker picking up some sample noise from the D-A converter for the ear-speaker sound. When the phone is in standby or sleeping the receiver, signal processors, decoders, processor system, and audio circuits have to be active. If any of these are actually shut down, the phone will not be able to know it has a call coming in and make the ring sound.

But this problem only happen on my Z10 LTE smartphone, i also have samsung galaxy s3 i9300 non lte, and this problem didn't appear, maybe some LTE interference problem ?, can some of the Z10 STL100-1 non lte User can test it for confirmation?

And why if the phone is active the noise is completely gone?

Yep, I've got exactly the same problem as described by you. Same STL100-2 version and OS. My serial number is 0618-4787-xxxx.

It's the auto focus lense mounting. Completely normal, it drove me nuts for the longest time lol

So the phone will be laying there and you still hear a noise?

Maybe in the Samsung phone they have a circuit that does a mute in the sound during periods where the sound is close to the so called "noise level". Internally, this type of circuitry is fairly complex.

As more circuits are added to the device the battery current consumption goes up, and thus reducing battery life. My phone also makes a very small type of noise when I am in a dead quiet place and I put my ear to the earpiece. I had older model phones where I especially heard this noise when using the corded earphones.

It doesn't bother me at all as long as the ear speaker or whatever the sound produces works fine. I just want to make sure that there is no damage.

I have the same issue here.
When the screen is off or the phone is charging, the noise is gone.
What is you noise frequency (how many times per second)?

I had this on my z10 STL 100-1 a few months back. Don't remember the 10.2.1 version.

Wiped and flashed an autoloader for the latest version then available and didn't restore.

    Problem resolved.

    Z10 STL 100-1 ON 10.2.1.2273 -10.3 BROWSER AND SETTINGS.
