    model: Z-10 STL100-2
    software: 10.3.1.1779
    Problem: phone switching off then hanging on boot up.
    What I tried: factory re set using Blackberry Link.
    Result: after about 5 failed attempts eventually reloaded software.
    New problem: Phone now has new device name so I cannot restore data from recent back ups.
    Would a security reset work or is this something to do with my blackberry ID?

    you need to reset your BBID or you won't be able to load software. You must have installed an old backup or something. Go to settings and BBID and put in your current one.

    When updating software, do it manually without link
