Ok so here is my photos taken at night, I was walking on my neighborhood.
Auto mode with flash
Attachment 152655 you don't have a fixed subject in your photo, just the landscape in the dark. So, where do you want the flash light fall on and reflect back to sensor?
Auto mode without flash
Attachment 152656 you are trying to take a photo of a landscape in the dark (without any close object where some light would reflect). That means no light or very low light. So, you need to keep the shutter of the camera ON for more time to let more light in to the sensor. Do you have a manual shutter speed controller in your Z10 camera?
Night mode without flash
Attachment 152657 For automatic cameras night mode controls the shutter speed and/or adjust the light differences using software. That means, if you don't have manual control, you will get the best shot in the dark using night mode. However, since you don't have a close subject, and it's low light, don't expect miracle. As others suggested, focus in the dark part so that the camera's software brightens other parts of the photo. And use a camera stand, the same photo will look clearer and better.
As you can see it's not that good, but at least 'acceptable'. Well, good night!
