My battery door wont fit perfectly to the back. So it makes noises when i press the edges. Ordered a new battery door and hope this will fix this.

But there are and i think always will be two problems with every Z10: The loose NFC contacts are just plain stupid and unnecessary. Also the sound the camera makes when you tap it (or you lay your Z10 on a table). It sounds like loose parts inside the camera. It just lowers the haptic perception.

Still the best phone i ever owned

EDIT: I got a new battery door from etradesupply.com. Now everything is just perfect (besides the loose camera sound). I love this phone !!!

Mine is made in Mexico and is very well built. I don't care if it isn't super thin, that has never been a feature on any BlackBerry that has gotten my attention. All my buttons have good feedback, no creaks, good vibrate sound and feel.

I'm just very happy with this phone still, going on two weeks of having it. I think the Q10 build quality threads will be interesting to pay attention to... more buttons, more moving parts, more room for error. I hope the Q10 is just as well made as its larger-screened sibling.

The nfc contacts are spring loaded and definitely do not rattle.

In fact, whoever in this tread said volume us possible right. Tap the back of your phone and it had this sight rattling sound. Put your finger on the volume keys, tap the back and it is gone.

The comment on materials is also correct - it is nor what you use but how you use it.
My now old Vauo SZ is carbon fibre reinforced plastic and carbon fibre - it is stronger than any of the apple products that bend... in fact right now it is stuffed into a bag with an slr pressing on the front and I know it will not suffer any damage from this, it is perfectly fine.

Instead companies like apple will have you believe that say aluminum is better - though it bends... in fact, aluminum itself is not very strong, so for bicycle frames, there is a minimum weight specification for aluminum frames to ensure enough material is used to give it the strength that is needed. Go carbon fibre and resin and the problem disappears - though people will shout "Plastic"...

Same goes for glass... high strength polymers are suited a lot better to phones than glass - they can be scratch resistant or high tensile strength, etc.

But then when people look only at the desong and ignore engineering...

I totally agree with this. The edges of the screen and sides of the phone is a dust magnet.

Really? Had my Z10 for nine weeks now and no dust at the side or on the screen at all. If you use your phone naked then perhaps this is one of the hazards here. Perhaps investing in a case might prevent the dust been attracted to your Z10 if it is that bad. I use a Leather case for mine and apart from having to wipe off finger prints from the screen I have no dust stuck anywhere on my Z10, and the side are not fully covered by the case either.

BTW OP: no issues with build quality on my Z10 either. No rattles, shakes or scratches in sight.

Design wise, I love Z10 pretty much as well as it build quality.
Not so big, not too small, solid feel in hand, very good materials, etc.

In fact, BlackBerry decision to keep replaceable battery and giving external memory card slot is just perfect.
I just don't understand the people spend another $100 just to get additional 16 GB memory (for 32 GB version uni-body phone), while you can get SD card 16 GB with just $10 or less.

Every phone has its quirks. Every phone has that small space where everyone says it's a dust magnet

The 16gb is for the OS and apps, which cant be run from the memory card. So 32gb would give you the space to install more apps, among other things.

Mine has weird blotches on the screen (not the led, the blotches are on the glass screen itself and seem to be growing over time) so I'm going to have to return it to get repaired.

Other than that mine is perfect, though this issue is definitely disheartening.

Got a white Z10 from Vodafone Germany. Made in Mexico as well. Best phone I've ever had. Absolutely solid build quality. Nothing to complain about. P.S. Prior one was a Bold 9900 made in Hungary. Flawless build quality as well. Really nice to see phones that are still built in the first world.

Absolutely no issues with my AT&T Z10! It's built like a workhorse, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to go to every length to protect it.
