So my first Z10 bricked after an official ATT update in june, never turned on again, blackberry support couldn't figure it out, eventually had to ship out a new one to me. Since then I've seen a few new threads from people stating that this has happened to their Z10. Some people said it was during updates, others just from updating apps within BB World.

Long story short- my phone bricked again!! Anyone else with this problem or any possible solutions?? Also, is there some way we could put different bricked threads into one? It's hard to search for solutions when so many unrelated things come up first.

I had loaded 10.2.1055 almost a month ago and everything was running very well. Couldn't have been happier with BB, even after my phone died a month after having it for no reason. So I stopped doing official updates (if they were just going to ruin my phone, why not try leaks then, right?), and have never been happier! But today I opened BB Maps and the screen faded out. It doesn't turn on or respond at all. If I take the battery out then plug it into a charger or my PC the red light will come on steady for maybe 10-20 seconds then go off. It actually started to restart itself about 5 minutes after the screen first faded away but it only made it a quarter of the way.

So does anyone know of reloading an OS on a bricked phone that won't turn on/respond to anything (preferably a leaked OS)? I did try the IE and BB Link reloads, but each requires you to "turn your phone off", and because it can't even turn on, I can't get past this step (which is basically the first step). Also, I can click preferences> reload OS in BB Link, but my phone never shows up on the left hand side where it normally does.

Thanks to everybody beforehand. Just a very frustrating experience. Something that is embarrassing for a BB fan when I already feel like people can't understand why I choose this company lol

Thanks tried that one already. Actually saw you recommend that on another thread, unfortunately it doesn't work. I am currently downloading a different autoloader just to try, but thanks for the try.

It just says connecting to bootrom... forever. I tried it again just now and it said something about the cfp file when I ran it as administrator, but didn't say it when it just double clicked it. I will try again with the original leaked OS I had on it when I finish downloading it.

It's unfortunate and it sucks, but this is definitely an issue BlackBerry should address. Just contact your provider for a replacement and BlackBerry Customer Loyalty. I had a few clients go through a few devices and no one can pin down exactly why.

Placeholder for how to load OS with cfp

Okay, here's how to rejigger cfp to load any signed files you want. I fail to see the point, but, eh.

You'll need your radio .signed and your OS .signed. If you don't have those, download them here. If it's an OS .signed you want, download the autoloader and split it open with Sachesi/DBBTool.

    10.2.1.1055 OS + 10.2.1.1056 Radio

    Q10 http://l.bitcasa.com/XxOR4EWT
    STL100-1 http://l.bitcasa.com/Twpb0UxG
    STL100-2/3 http://l.bitcasa.com/Q_S9CW7g
    STL100-4 http://l.bitcasa.com/h5N_5PKM
    Z30 http://l.bitcasa.com/N0gG0cO_

    10.2.1.1056 Radio .signed
    Q10 http://l.bitcasa.com/A2K0Yvk9
    STL100-1 http://l.bitcasa.com/DwVHsNRx
    STL100-2/3 http://l.bitcasa.com/Z0-pkz9p
    STL100-4 http://l.bitcasa.com/RQrQ4ccR
    Z30 http://l.bitcasa.com/ynE49tVU

So, in order to get this thing working, you'll need:
    • One (1) OS .signed file for your device (STL100-1 or not STL100-1)
    • One (1) radio .signed file for your device (STL100-1, STL100-2/3/4, STL100-4, Q10/Q5 or Z30)
    • cfp.exe

Back up your phone as usual, then open a command prompt (cmd.exe) in the folder containing your three files.

    Type in
    Code:
    cfp.exe -u load <name of OS .signed> <name of radio .signed>
    and execute.

That single line is the only relevant bit of the .bat file included with this package. With that, you should be able to put any OS/radio combo onto your phone with cfp.

If I messed something up, report back, please.

I know. I'm more numb about the situation now. Last time I was more angry at AT&T for not having backups in their stores. Couldn't understand why I sat for hours on customer service just to have someone say that I had to be okay with waiting a week for a new phone and then have my phone "cleared" (as if I had damaged it). This time the fault is mine and Blackberry's.

Thanks a lot for that. I'm not quite sure what the benefit of using the cfp method is. I downloaded a file that claimed not to have some of the errors that people had with 10.2.1055 hoping I wouldn't run into the same problem, but I just checked and neither method works. With or without cfp.

I think the main problem is that the phone will not turn on/respond at all. Because of this I don't believe a regular autoloader will work, if any. Especially because the computer can't even recognize that something is plugged in/being unplugged.
