Although it is big, it makes the swipe gestures all the more easy to execute. And I don't think it looks bad to be honest.

Stop and think for a moment. There has to be SOME area on the face of the phone that doesn't do something that you don''t want to happen when you accidentally try to get a grip on the darn thing!

I'm sure that its size is a merger of form and function. Making the phone "appear" nice and well-proportioned as well as providing a reasonable amount of room to accommodate a swipe.

It's kinda a necessity. Swipe gestures would be a lot harder to do without it. Look at the q10. Not much bottom bezel makes for harder swipe motions.

The q5 has it right, bezel on the bottom, but not on top.
