Hi,

I have an unlocked Z10 running 10.2.1.2179.

My battery life, although not great, had been acceptable. Lately I have been roaming a lot in Mexico in the Telcel network and when I am there the phone heats up a lot and a full battery lasts 3 hours at the most. I downloaded battery monitor and while on Telcel it shows temperatures above 100F and battery usage of 2.6w up to 3.8w.

I am at a loss as to what to do as I go through 4 batteries in a day.

Problem is, now back on AT&T instead of the usual six hours, I get by with four maybe five hours of battery life. On AT&T the temperature goes to 100.2F and consumption between 1.6 to 2.44w.

Could it be the hardware? I have a fleet of five oem batteries with anything between 250 to 2100 cycles in them.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Before blaming the batteries I blame your OS.
Did you load this yourself? Also, whey not move to a higher version of 10.2.1 and load a leak that has better battery life. Sounds like you have a rouge app running there or a problem with your OS that is making the phone run hot. Hot running phones means battery drops like a rock.

Reload your OS.

The upgrade came over the air. It is an unlocked Z10 from the Shop Blackberry store so the 10.2 came before it was available in ATT, generally.

You might be right. I dreaded having to wipe everything and starting from scratch (losing SMS, BBM and Whatsapp conversations), and the time involved. I will give it a try and let you know. I see that you are on 10.3. Since I am starting from scratch, should I try loading it and see where it takes me?
