I don't seem to be able to send emails to addresses NOT in the contact list. I have a to create a contact first AND THEN send the email.

Seems like a bug, anyone seeing the same?

Email works a little strange when you manually enter an address. As you're typing it in, you should see it duplicated in a blue bar below where you type as soon as you hit the '@'. Once you've entered the whole address, just tap that blue bar and it will plug the address in the same as if you selected it from your contacts. This is not abundantly intuitive -- it took me a few tries and a couple of cuss words to figure out how it works. But it kind of makes sense, assuming that you're probably going to email your own contacts more often than not, so it's set up to search through your contacts first.

I had issues with this also until I figured out the blue bar thing that sleepngbear pointed out. It has actually been that way since 10.0 and not new with Verizon's 10.1 update.
