    Hi,

Seems like the Z10 has a rather confusing bug wrt matching numbers to names:

When you get a call there should be a "reverse lookup" in the phonebook matching number to name. As it seems the match number to name is solely done based on the rightmost 4 digits. This can lead to very confusing situations to say the least

To give you a specific example: Say you have a contact "Smith" with the number +43123456789 in your phonebook. Now when you get a call another number, say +432838126789. The Z10, instead of displaying the number of the caller which is not in the phonebook, displays the calling party as "Smith" - which is defintely wrong.

This happens also with outbound calls: Again, take the "Smith"-contact with its number +43123456789. Suppose on Z10s dialpad you enter a number, say +43228376789 (righmost 4 digits are the same). Guess what: when you finish the call the call log shows the number called as "Smith" - which is completely wrong.

    So here are my questions:

    • Anybody else seen this behavior
    • Any known cure against it?

BTW - this is happens not only on my Z10 but on every Z10 that is used in our company so it seems to be a more general problem.

Thanks much in advance for any clue!

That is a very strange behavior. Have you ruled out the contacts itself being the issue...as in have you tried to reload the whole contact list yet?

ebbes36, that's problem #1 for me. I have to write 2 same numbers but in 2 different formats for 1 contact. One in international format, one in normal my country's format. If there is only local type number z10 won't recognize contact on incoming call. Or vice versa. Something like that. Same for messages. It is not so difficult for me to double same number for contacts. But whatsapp suffers from this and it's not elegant. It thinks that contact has many numbers and offers to select which one's status i want to read.

RIM didn't think about country's call rules

    Hi,
    Yes already tried
    • rebooting
    • Setting up my work account from scratch
    • security-wipe followed by setting up work account from scratch

    None of this helped.

Speaking of - has anybody out there heard about a possible fix for this? This is definitely something that almost noone can live with in the long run.

@ebbes36 can you tell me about the Number format? I'm from Austria as well. ;-)

I don't know why the same issue happened to my Q10. It is annoying.

I'm still not able to reproduce the issue on my phone. Even thought my boss has the problem.
I guess it has something to do with localisation of Outlook. In our case anyways .

Yep.. it's a known issue... why they still haven't fixed it yet, who knows. As of right now, the iOS 7 beta seems more stable (at least in the most basic form - emails, phone calls, contacts, etc.) than BB10.

Well, that comment doesn't help much. I'd rather know how to reproduce the problem to figure out a workaround.
    And quite frankly - I don't give a f*** about iOS.

After working flawlessly (at least on this issue) for 4 weeks, my BB Q10 has just started mislabeling all incoming and outgoing calls, and all voicemail. It does so irrespective of the rightmost 4 digits. I have not yet seen a pattern for this.

Since installing the 10.2 leak, my z10 has been great at the Caller ID thing. Unfortunately I now get garbled voice on phone calls sometimes, and the only way to fix that is to call again.

Two steps forward one step back. Keep moving?

It was also an issue in the legacy OS's which was never resolved, from what I saw anyway.

I never had a problem like this with my bb9900, I hope this will be fixed when 10.2 comes.
