I have 1500 contacts in GMail and years worth of calendar events. Will BB10 allow me to use GMail and sync my contacts and Calendar?

PlayBook does this using activesync. So yes.

Yes the dev alpha devices already have this feature (just no E-mail hub at the moment)

The Playbook sync's the G-calendar and Gmail contacts just fine. However, the actual Gmail messages only sync back to a maximum 30 days. Is this the same on the Dev Alpha's? Do they support Gmail labels? On the PB, you can "file" messages to one folder only - you can't apply more than one label to a message. It's also missing the archive function. I'm hoping these change in BB10. I really want the new L series, but full Gmail integration is a must for me.

    Any comments?

I have noticed that my g-mail on my Torch only syncs back 30 days too. There must be an option somewhere that lets you keep older things, but its not been a big enough deal to me to go hunting.

I suspect that we will see vastly improved GMail functionality. Now that Gmail is such a big deal and includes so much other stuff, it seems only logical that the experience on bb10 will be improved.

Was anyone surprised that BB10 launched without a native gmail app?

No. Google nor BlackBerry ever even hinted that there would be one.
