I'm quite confused as to why Wifi direct needs carrier approval. Brings a redundant and unnecessary procedure to that functionality

The Z10 will NOT get Wifi Direct with the official 10.2.1. The STL100-1 model is the only one that has the needed hardware, but they disabled it for all Z10's

Damn... these type of things annoy me. I've been a BB user for the longest time, and these rather minute yet meaningful exclusions gets to me. FM radio was a non-issue to me but no Wifi direct on a 2013 released phone..... I could write a lot but I'll just let this one go haha

I'd always believed that the z10 at the least would have this capability, but it didn't. But it's nice to see that the z30 has it with Miracast as well. It's just that the unrealistic pricing for the phone hasn't allowed me to snag one yet. And maybe I've grown fond of the z10 too, but an upgrade doesn't seem to be in the near future for me. Have you used Miracast btw

Yea. The thing with the Z10 is, that it is a 2011 designed phone that was released a lot later than promised. It seems like all the focus went on the Z and the Q was developed later

Also the guy that you quoted above has a Z10 too. The Z30's monitor screen has a dark theme

Oh snap, you're very right. I hadn't done my homework well lol but I'm seeing it in my phone too. I guess it probably has a lot to do with the rollouts being used for both z-series. So these types of cross overs in files and functionality that may not work is bound to happen :[

Has anyone actually tried it yet?
There is definately an option for media sharing over wifi under settings, and a "play on" option for pictures and videos.

i am using android apps like xender and flash transfer for file transfer. it works well in my z10 stl-100.
