The installation error is a BB10 bug.
Just keep hitting download/install it will work eventually.

While the download is pending, cancel it than restart the download. Leave if for a while and do something else with the phone

I can try.
I have noticed when I try downloading/upgrading apps I'll get errors often.
You just have to keep trying to download/upgrade and it works eventually.
Sometimes you need to restart BB World as well, but you will get there in the end.

I believe software package 10.0.10.85 is the minimum requirement...it was pretty much hinted at in their official change log/blog post (BlackBerry 10 software updated to 10.0.10.85: Top 5 Improvements �Inside BlackBerry - The Official BlackBerry Blog) that WhatsApp needed that software release. [emphasis mine]
