I want the full tough display and not the qwerty so obviously I bought the Z10. I find the display pretty great in terms of both brightness and sharpness of diagonal or curved lines on the screen. However I would love it 10 times more if it didn't use a back light, and instead each individual pixel lit up and created a nicer looking display. Why didn't the Z10 get the SuperAMOLED screen like the Q10 has?

Great question. I would love SuperAMOLED screen on the Z10 (batt efficient, great color saturation). May be TAT created the white theme first so they used LCD screen to avoid delays?

There's downsides to SuperAMOLED (my last phone had it):

    - Low overall brightness and battery draining whites
    - Blueish hue
    - Colours look over-saturated
    - Poor legibility in sunlight

Overall, I didn't find it to be that good looking. The only time I miss having an AMOLED display is with bedside mode.

NO NO NO. Please, no more AMOLED...and especially not the pentile variety! I've had so many bad experiences with AMOLED on a Gnex and S3. Yes, when the background is black, they're nicer, but that's literally the only thing they're good at. They suck at everything else.

There is a chart that shows with an average screen output, OLEDs use 1.5X the power, and up to twice the power with a full white background. The only time they save power is when the background is overwhelmingly dark. I think it was something like the screen needs to be 80+% black before it starts demanding less power than an LCD.

Color saturation is horrendous on OLED screens. It's completely inaccurate. Yes, I know some LCDs suck really bad when it comes to color saturation (ahem...Nexus 4...), but screens like the one on the Z10, iPhone 5, and HTC devices are really great in this regard. Colors pop without being oversaturated.

Wow if that chart is true then OLED consumes a damn LOT of power!

Very thankful here that the Z10 uses an IPS panel. Used a HTC 8x a while back and was stunned at the difference versus my AMOLED screen.
