I use it for the hell of it, but I have really no need for locking my phone, not yet anyways. I guess I also like seeing the Wankel Rotary Engine on that screen.
Who doesn't like a good wankel from time to time!

I feel so safe coz noone can guess it when u login by using it. If u use the number password in public, u should be lifting ur mobile or hiding it with another hand incase u want to login into ur mobile.

My understanding is the picture password was designed so someone could be watching you and still have no clue what your password is.

However unlikely, if someone watches you enter digits on a virtual keypad they can guesstimate what number combination you are using. The same for a swipe
I agree, if you're being watched then it's a problem.

Also, I believe that ten unsuccessful tries with a PW (alphanumeric) will, in fact, permanently lock the phone, period. Maybe an expert can weigh in here.

I haven't had it happen with a BlackBerry phone but I know on the PlayBook if I entered wrong password 10 times it erased data and reset the PB to it's factory state

I did find a way a work around to reset the password attempts before it would reset, but I don't recall what it was.

Picture password can be observed and it is virtually impossible figure out. You have to decide on the number and the target. Since you can place your finger anywhere on the screen an observer can't tell what number you selected. If you miss 4 times it reverts to the alpha numeric password- and you have 6 more tries or your phone wipes.

I switched recently from numerical to picture password. At first I was very frustrated at getting it pinpointed correctly, then suddenly it dawned upon me that I probably did it not the way it was designed to. Used a different method and voila, I just loved it.

I was in the same boat, at first I would put my finger on the number and try to drag it to the right spot. With the number under my finger it was very hard to tell if I had it correct or not.

Finally I realized you can touch anywhere on the screen and that's when the light bulb went off as to how ingenious this is, I love it.

The fact the numbers are randomized each time it is used is great as well.

I couldn't believe how easy it was to understand during the first few tries.

I still use it but while moving it is kind of hard, which I don't mind much

To me it's the next best thing since slice bread was invented. I was at an NBA game the other day with a BB and iPad; each time I had to unlock the BB I did with no worries of people around me figuring out my code, however it was a different story when I had to unlock the iPad.
Please note that I am not comparing BlackBerry and Apple.

given that a thief has an extremely small chance of guessing it within the ten tries permitted before permanently bricking the phone.

    Seriously, bricking the phone?

There is more than once that I wrongly place matching number and picture. Once I tried it more than five time it asks for number password. Then OK.

Is it really bricking the phone after 10 tries? How about someone toying with your phone and wrongly guess it ten times?
Who's phone are you "playing" with????
Anyway, it doesn't brick your phone. Your data will be wiped after 10 failed password attempts.
