People keep saying that the z10 is old and outdated hardware, yet I can't think of anyone I know with a faster phone.

I know the latest phones are faster, I just don't know anyone with one.

The best phones that friends have are GS3, iPhone five and Nokia 920.
All of thosr are near spec to the z10.

Also, my z10 is snappy and works great. In short, I just don't see the big deal. My desktop is a Core i5 Mac, my laptop is a Core 2 Duo Dell and both of them are running the latest OSes just fine. (Win8.1 and OS X 10.9)

So I just don't see the need to always have the best specs.

The z30 is out and great for those buying now. But I am still happy with my z10.

I didn't really benchmark but compared to a S4 and One, there's honestly no difference. I thought there would be. I just played Minion Rush and there's lag spikes in about the same points on all three of the systems. Z10 smoother normal stuff such as main screen and there's a unoticable smootheness during gameplay for the quad core systems. Surprising that an extra two cores doesn't make a noticable difference.

It's because of how the extra cores are used. They're not always on and they don't work together. I believe they're all used separately for different tasks as opposed to working all 4 cores to get things done faster and more efficiently. The numbers seem impressive but the software doesn't use them so really it's just a numbers game that don't really mean anything. Android fanboys will use them to their advantage cuz they can't admit that there's competition out there.

Andriod fans claiming specs on paper is childish in so many ways. It is like saying my basketball team is better because the players are all taller. Sure, that helps but only tells part of the story.

I own a 9790.....it may not be good as a Z10, what what it lacks in hardware, it makes up for with enthusiasm

Specs are online part of the story. You can have the greatest specs in the world, but if your software doesn't optimize them for greater efficiency, speed, etc then all you have is clunky device that will frustrate you.

The real test is in real life use. If there is no perceptible difference, then what good are the specs?

My secondary device, is a 4.5inch android phone from an Indian maker, packs with Jellybean, Broadcom's BCM21654, 1ghz single core CPU, filmsy plastic like screen and a 1800mah battery.

Specs wise not comparable to Z10. Certainly.
Which gives me 3days or little more of usage in a single charge, with fine tunings on hardware consumptions such as brightness, wifi, as well as frequency reception @ 2G.

However, with almost the same settings, the cheaper device with the Broadcom, are used more often as it gives me 1.5days of usage with internet surfing totaling 2hrs or little more on 3G, 20mins calls on 2G, as well as 2hrs of FM radio reception.
