Just a few minutes ago I noticed something I suspect could be WhatsApp's feature to indicate if a message has been read.
- Observe how the first tick indicates that the message is sent to WhatsApp servers.
- The second one indicates that the message has been delivered to contact.
- Then now both ticks are shaded blue from original grey to indicate if message has been read "assuming".

Yes I am aware of what they mean, but if you look at the picture. where it says "How are you" its shaded blue, that was before the contact replied - hence I assumed they read the message. It still does that will that particular contact. I am restarting the phone to see if I still see it. Could be a bug.

Just restated the phone, and seems to be a constant thing. I send message and the 2 check marks they grey until the contact "Reads" the message. Wish I had a second phone to take a video.

Yes they did, our whole conversation has been like that since I noticed it. But like I said, only with 1 contact. I'm tempted to delete WhatsApp and try again but I kinda like this "feature"


Well the contact is not experiencing the same thing though.

I definitely don't have any blue checks. And just upgraded to the new whatsapp few days ago.

I'm guessing this is a upcoming feature, that is already in the code of the app and somehow got activated for the OP

It is already available for voice notes, sobit would be cool if they do it for messages too

I never noticed that voice notes have this feature, I do not send voice notes at all lol - hate the sound of my voice. But yes, now normal chats behave the same as voice notes.
