Magazines are a rapidly dying media. Who cares?

i would actually probably make fun of anyone who actually paid money for any of those books.

all you need is a google search and all the information in those publications is doubled.

it's marketed towards the stupid people of the world.

    NO...

Its not "enough" not even close....
We have crackberry, they have android central and imore.... and all this other stuff that we don't and will never have since Thor and company has thrown in the towel.

You don't feel a lil looked over when businesses advertise android and ios apps and don't even mention bb?

Magazines are of the past, Internet is the present and future and has always been this way for at least 25 years.

Last time I read a magazine was about 25 years ago.

    Magazines are the past?

People, just because the picture CLEARLY shows the physical usurping of a platform in one VALID form of media doesn't mean we can't just discount the whole type of media!

    Wow.

LOL @KOOLWATER... careful there. Soon they'll say the internet is "the past." Hilarious. Let's ignore the fact that those magazines would not be in circulation if there was not a market for them...

I wouldn't call these "magazines". They're "guides". Much like buying a "... for dummies" guide. For what they're offering and the price they sell these for (you also get them at Train Stations and Airports, always at a WH Smiths) they could be considered a rip off (but they must sell, right? Or they wouldn't bother making them! ). They're really written for the clueless and the bored people stuck in an airport terminal with nothing to do.

Claiming that most potential customers are too dumb to buy your product is a good way to go out of business. What I see on that newsstand is a ton of free advertising for the dominant platforms. What I also see is the main reason why the tech world has given up on Blackberry for the consumer market.

Ah... but you're thinking outside the box.

I think it's funny that the same latent arrogance that we accuse Apple users of is what is on display nowadays... can't go through life thinking people are dumber than you because they have different tech choices.

If EVERYONE else in the world is insane, well...

As usual the blackberry fan boys have got their heads in the sand, the fact is that blackberry is not represented, after all who really wants to buy a BlackBerry anymore.

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
You could look at this two ways, these probably weren't made the minute Android or iOS were released. But fact is they are both the dominant platforms at the moment (and the argument for BlackBerry not being represented also crosses over to Windows Phone). Because "they" hold the higher Market share, you're going to find guides like these for sale in the places I specified above. It's an easy sell at the end of the day!

So point I'm trying to make is, if BB10 had been successful on the sales front (the phones are good, OS is good. Lack of this "ecosystem" and poor marketing have let them down) we would more than likely see BlackBerry 10 guides in that mix too. Reality is, it just hasn't worked out that way.

So why make a product when the customer base is already established as being low?

On a side note, I'm pretty sure not having guides out for BB10 on some news stand in London is the reason why "not nobody give a daymn about 'berry".

What towel? For a thousand time, BlackBerry is not defaulting, BlackBerry is not going anywhere. Sale is change of ownership, not a default.

I'm not a fanboy. I have tons of beef to roast with BlackBerry.
However, your title and premise has nothing to do with people's choices.
I happen to love my device and there was no magazine stand that helped me love it.
Also, no magazine stand (filled with other branding) has helped me love those devices.
This thread is garbage. Just my opinion.

It doesn't matter that they are junk... they are all free advertising for "Android!" and "iPhone!", and create a tangible appearance that the platforms are vibrant and growing.

BlackBerry would be fortunate to have such help.

Nobody can really claim that BBRY isn't in demand. It just seems the demand is not deemed to be enough by BBRY itself.

    Precisely.

BlackBerry isn't looking to sell because of the overwhelming demand for their products.

    I see what you mean.

However, the lack of magazines has never stopped the thousands of people who use CB from buying a blackberry.

Fact is, most people over the age of 10 these days have their minds made up and are going to be hard to budge.. and I don't think these magazines are what made them decide they didn't want a blackberry.

Wow so magazines are a thing of the past yet that newsstand has a rack full of them... don't be a sheep. While this isn't the biggest deal in the world it's another sign that BlackBerry isn't represented well in pop culture and modern media.
