Got a Z10 and returned it after 14 days. Got my money back.
Repeated the experience with another carrier. Got money back
again. Lose-lose-lose for all parties. I hope my problems with
the Z10 get spotted and get fixed. Am going to try the Z10
for a third time. With a new carrier. I'll keep you posted.

Caveat: I am sure that many people have not had the same problems,
so please post about the problems described below, and not to say
you've had none of these problems.

I'm all about communications. I have my "needs" and I want a
communications device not an app-store remote control.
I've never had a Blackberry, have never done BBM. Want to
get mobile now. There is a lot that I don't know so indulge me
with "training" if I've drawn wrong conclusions in anything.

Here are good and bad points from my perspective. Some of them.

    +
Push email works. I see emails 1 to 2 minutes sooner on the Z10 than
on my Gmail accounts on my computers. (Slow to re-fresh after the
push, e.g. if an email is replied-to.)

    +
Hub works. This is not rocket science; it's smart. It's like relevancy.
The hub shows what happened, no matter by which means. It aggregates
the view over all accounts and using all communication channels.
I like it. TXT messages and emails and phone calls all on one screen.
It's an overview of activity (text, phonecalls, emails of different accounts).
It's redundancy too, because each email account can be consulted
    separately also.

    +
Swipes work. Occasionally got stuck. In my second 2-week trial period
(ended March 16) I only had one "stuck" situation, but it was on my
14th day so I returned the phone because of the other concerns (see
below). A salesperson in a store knew what to do to unstick the phone
but I returned it for full refund anyway. She didn't show me what she did
to unstick it (and I forgot to ask her right then and there). But I had the
other problems and no resolution in view, so the phone had to go back.

    -
Contacts database doesn't work. I found no way to control / manage
which names got imported from my Gmail accounts. Thousands of
names got imported, but useless to me -- names of people whose
names once appeared on a CC not even sent by me. Worse than that,
my most-relevant names (relevant to me) DIDN'T get imported.
Remember relevancy? It's what the world is all about, not alphabetical
ordering of names of people with whom you've never exchanged email.
It's a waste of screen real estate to display what I've never needed or used.
I want to see names of those with whom I am in constant contact.

    -
Memorization of email addresses doesn't work. After replying to an email,
I could not email a follow-up. Workarounds: 1. hunt down the first email
received and reply to it again, and 2. store as a Contact and then make a
note to self to delete later (because some people I don't want to keep in
my Contacts database as they are extremely temporary to me).

    -
Manual typing of an email address didn't work, but this then magically got
resolved during the second of my two-week trials. I managed to reach BBRY
employees to complain about this malfunction, so my input might have made
    an impact somewhere inside BBRY.

    -
The friendly prompt email addresses provided are useless. It's a field
holding two names only, designed as a bypass around the massive
Contacts database. No way to scroll through a small batch of prompts.

    -
(might be wrong here) I couldn't move from TXT received to phoning the person.
Had to write down their phone number and then type the phone number on
the dial pad. (but I didn't test this out seriously; it might have been my fault).

    -
Dumb low-level "carrier" assistance took up a lot of time whether Chat or Live call.

    -
No attention received from Blackberry BBRY (RIM). Not like the attention
I get when I phone AAPL and tell them about exceptional and serious
malfunctions of their various products. Seems both AAPL and BBRY fob off
to me the task of spotting problems and describing them clearly, but only
AAPL is eager to have me call them and then to deal successfully to a
resolution and to maintain a continuous stream of interaction. I can call
1-800-my-Apple and they take note of me and all my words.

    -
BBRY interaction with me led me to some forums, tutorials and whatnot.
Then when I followed up with specific concerns I hit a stonewall.

    -
Another negative: the keyboard prompt words are ignorant of past
tense (past participles) and infinites. I am certain this can be fixed fast.
But, I am astounded that this got produced as a consumer-ready
version. E.g. after the word "to" you should get a verb but not with
the "-ed" added on the end of it. Don't wait for every user to train
their Z10 to learn this. It is easy to make it a basic function to suggest
infinitives after "to" and past tenses after "I've". So what if it "learns
as you type and predicts what youll type next". No need to wait for
a million users to train their device individually. Similar and worse
problems happen in languages other than English.
If I wanted brute-force spell-checking and word suggesting,
    I would have bought a competitor's product.

In each of the many negative paragraphs above there are a lot more
details I could add, if anyone wants to engage in a conversation about
    the details.

OP what were the alleged issues with the three BlackBerry Z10s you bought and subsequently returned? The claims in your original post wreak of a whiner or the feared troll.

I know how to fix your contacts problem.
I think the other ones can be fixed as well. For example after typing on the keyboard for a while it adjusts and does add the past tense, although it may not be as fast as you want it these things take time. So regarding the contacts.
    1. Go to contacts
    2. Swipe up from the top
    3.Click "settings"
    4. Adjust accordingly.

    hi kill_9 !
I've only read a hundred or so of your 4401 posts. I know you post fast.

Take the time you need to re-read my original post, as often as you might need, to ensure your reading comprehension abilities come up to the forum's average level. Or, alternatively, wait a day or two or three.

I can admit that my writing is not the clearest for some people. Sorry about this. I wish you well. Good bye.

I posted about several negatives, hoping that it would trigger some response, i.e. helpful response about the negatives. Some of the negatives have been flogged to death in other discussion threads in the last month. Some of them haven't been dealt with. Bit by bit I'm learning this new OS and its quirks. I need help with email, sync'ing, and contacts.

So first you're a troll if you say something bad with no explanation. Now you're a troll if you explain in detail what your issues are. Makes perfect sense to me

Just because someone isn't really into the Z10 doesn't make them "trolls". This dude has legitimate concerns, and it seems like he wanted to give BBRY a chance, but didn't want to deal with quirks, which is absolutely understandable. The only fallacy I noted in his entire post is that:

"No attention received from Blackberry BBRY (RIM). Not like the attention
I get when I phone AAPL and tell them about exceptional and serious
malfunctions of their various products. Seems both AAPL and BBRY fob off

I've been on the phone with Apple doing tech support on their highly overrated products for customers (computer repair on the side... occasionally, and have been lucky enough to have to network 28 of those things, talk about taking years off your life. Also teaching some of these people how to use iTunes is enough to put people in the looney bin, what the hell is wrong with dragging and dropping via a GUI that is OS based?) but anyway, they're more eager to get off the phone than they are to help, and if they can't quickly get off the phone, they'll quickly move you from department to department until you have a stroke from fury, then when you get back from the hospital, they try to sell you applecare.

Also, I really doubt he had 3 Z10's.

No, I'm a successful complainer, so I get successful outcomes when I have a real concern to show the corporate employees.

I think I might take pictures of the bills received in the mail from the 3 carriers. That can add to my credibility rating.

I'm stunned that nobody has commented on the linguistic shortcomings of the prdictive text

I complain when something doesn't work, as should anyone. 1st generation or 100th generation, if I pay money for a product or service I expect it to work as advertised. Here's one the responses from blackberry on my open tickets. I can post the email they sent as well but I need to edit out the contact info, etc first.
