Yeah, but you can't just drop an apk file in there. Your file needs to be repackaged as a bar file, and then pushed to your device (With dev mode enabled); hence the 'side loading' term.

I just got a BlackBerry PlayBook and don't like a lot of the apps available, just heard about this 'sideloading' thing. I don't have a laptop or desktop computer at all, do i need one to sideload?

I'm pretty sure the easiest way (well at least the way I did it) used Google Chrome on my laptop, to access the device in dev mode.

You might want to visit the Playbook subforum. There will be more info. Also, the PB's limitations on sideloading can be discussed. It is a more limited Android emulation. Good luck

The apps you download from blackberry world use the front door. This is the formal way to install and use applications on your phone. You can also get applications from outside blackberry world. They use the side door. Less formal but still in the same house

With 10.2.1 is there still any need to side load apps? I know I had to side load Snap itself, but is that the only one? I just install Android apps directly through Snap now.
