Can anyone tell me what the icon beside the alarm and battery icons at the top of the screen means? (It's the circle-ish shape) I've done several searches but haven't come up with an answer. Thanks!

GPS. It should go away after a little while.

yep GPS. It can pop on even if you dont have an app as an active frame. As long as its not there for an extended period you should be ok

Correct that is the nfc icon. Can be switched off from network settings

As per above, seems to appear after you've opened an app that uses GPS, like Foursquare or Maps.
Stays after app is closed, then disappears after a while too.

The gps icon pops on when I'm doing something that requires location based services, and it does indeed go away after a bit. I was just out on a walk using the sports tracking app and it triggered the gps icon and it's still showing even though I've been home for awhile.

Thank you! That was really bugging me not knowing... It's still showing 2 hours later and I don't have anything open other than the CB app, but at least I know what it is now and will watch to see what it does. :-)

This bugged me for a while as well. I figured it out. Turn off location services (in settings) and it won't show, but apps that use GPS don't work/update.....ie weather apps, FB, 4sq, etc....turning off location services will absolutely increase battery life.

Well, I turned it off for a couple days and my battery life got better. Seems that if your device isn't constantly look for something, your battery doesn't work as hard. I could be wrong, tho....

I was talking about switching off NFC. I actually switched it off and there is a huge battery improvement. It's half a day now with my normal usage and the battery consumption is just 30% compared to when NFC is on, by now it should have been 50% already.
