Toast notifications are the notifications that come up in the top of the screen and that you can reply to directly without having to open the particular app(Limited to some apps only)

Toast notifications can also refer to the black "popup bubbles" you'd see in middle of screen after actions like changing wallpaper, taking a screenshot, checking for updates in BB World, etc.

I had the same question. And when I googled (well, ducks-to-go) it, I noticed they used the term POP UP - aha, I acclaimed to myself - Toasters POPUP toast. I presume that is why they are called "toast" (I won't go anywhere with BB also being almost toast!)

Yeah hadn't really thought of those. But there are "toasts" like
"Bookmark Saved|Undo"

In various places. Nice touch.

It dud but BlackBerry's version is more refined, at least My iPhone 5 doesn't show a reply option for messaging apps.
