Just had a conference call this afternoon with a MDM or "BYOD" company we are looking at for use within our organization.....of course they currently support IOS and Android - and to my surprise Windows.

I asked on the future support of Blackberry and they were very aware of BB10 and the Z10. He's answer - "it's a wait and see approach". They are determining the device popularity before investing time.

He said and I quote "we are really waiting for Netflix" ....which from what he said has(Netflix) the same attitude. I was kinda surprised with his answer.

Any news on a Netflix app? Just wondering if there were and updates?

Netflix is not available as a native or ported app, but the side load works well.

I doubt that Netflix will be creating an app right away, since everyone seems to be waiting on BBRY to prove themselves.

Why is Netflix a required business app though?

    Guys,

It's used as a baseline - I guess if that app is available - it means the BB10 user base is large enough to invest time and money.

I can understand their approach. After what has happened with RIM no one wants to throw money into water. RIM has to prove they can come back.

Over 12 million according to this article from May of last year. So the numbers will be higher now:

Umn, this post doesn't really make sense. Netflix as a business App or some sort of litmus test?

Highest per user spending on apps on any platform with a subscriber base of 76 million and soon to be more after the z10/q10 with over 50% coming from Android and IOS. Seems like a no brainer to me. Especially if my company has a high quality app. The tools are there to port over or make a native app. Is it really as tough to make a native app as these developers make it sound or are they just being lazy?

    +1 on that,

I def. am NOT a dev. but I have wondered if it is that much harder to produce a native app for BB10. Isnt that what all the prep work was about for? To help ensure a smooth build/port process for the all the devs, so they could use webworks, html5, etc..

Not trying to pick a fight, but it does seem like BB went out of its way to ensure the devs. get the tools they need long before the product was launched. Lazy? or wait n see?

ive been a blackberry fan from day 1 and it would honestly kill me to leave them, but the only reason i would consider leaveing would be bcoz of the app gap.. the only real big named apps i heard coming to BB10 was angry birds star wars, whatsapp, amazon kindle app and then skype well apart from skype their all here, so after skype what other top apps can we look forward to seeing in blackberry world ? this is whats worrying me tbh..

if BB10 were to have temple run, instagram and all the other popular apps blackberry would be back without a doubt because i think when people buy phones nowadays aslong as it looks good and has their fave apps/top named apps, their happy to buy right ? they dont really look into whats inside the phone whats it running on etc etc

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they write an app for BB10, it's unusable on earlier phones, isn't it? So the 76 million number is irrelevant, it's only about BB10 market share?

Here's the dilemma: According to many, it will never make business sense for Netflix to invest in an app, since they will likely gain few if any subscribers.

So BB10 becomes super popular, and still no Netflix. I think the MDM company might need to rethink their yardstick for popularity.

I've been on the fence about keeping Netflix anyway, probably time to cancel. I tried side loading the .bar file but DDPB tool didn't work for me, doesn't connect to Z10.
