Anyone aware of an VOIP application available for the Z10?. This kind of application allows you to make cheap international calls directly to landline or mobile.

Do a search. There are Voip apps. There Is also a sip app that you can connect to any provider. It is sip.fm. I have used it connected to my office wifi and cloud-based Voip phone system. Works fine.

    Skype... but it runs horribly...

(at least it was first fine for me but has since become more of a liability... reinstalling and backing up without Skype upon os change did not really help. no idea why not got worse.)

    Thank you all.

Skype is not up to the standard in terms of reliability and connectivity under the Z10. Had an app called Vyke and was using it under iPhone but is not available for the Z10.

Anyway, shall explore your other proposed apps. Cheers.

sip.fm works pretty well. You just need a SIP provider.

Try Truphone mate. It's a "Built for BlackBerry" app. And the rates are pretty good.

Commercial companies (eg. Verizon) are unaccustomed and reluctant to undermine their own operating positions and profitability. Bandwidth is sacred and Voip is extremely piggish of it. Verizon is making every effort to get 4glte right and also get OTA sync of Contacts and Calendar working correctly. This latter effort has turned into a nightmare, but they will get it right. I think the main holdup here is the extremely wide range of what we humans call a "Contact", especially its exact format. Once all these interrelated items are ironed out, Verizon WILL release 10.1 and you will get Skype. Doc Neutron

I use Sipfm with simonics as the gateway for Googlevoice

Been used it on my Bold Torch and now my Z10. Co workers also use it on their Q10s.
    Been very reliable for me.
