Whenever I send/share a video I took using the Z10 to another smartphone the quality is really bad.
The videos are shot on both 1080 and 720 so it's not a question of shooting in one of those modes.
I never had this problem with Android nor iPhone in fact the quality of the videos were high quality when receiver via text or email.

What's going on? I can't be the only one with dealing with this. Is there a specific setting I don't know about?

Please don't respond telling me that you're not having this problem. Does nobody any good.

Maybe we can break it down. Does the quality change when you send the video or is it generally bad.

The quality is awesome as seen from the Z10. My post relates to the quality on the receivers end whenever I send via text or email. Exactly as I posted.

I heard that BB compresses the video or any files that will be sent out, so quality could suffer due to that...not because the initial quality is lacking

I loaded a movie on my Z10 and started watching it. It played fine at first and then it started lagging, i.e. the sound did not match the picture. Tried another movie and the same thing happened. I then loaded the exact movie on my PlayBook and that played it fine without any delays. Wondering what might be the problem here?

Via text or email. As my post stated I'm simply sharing.

If BlackBerry compresses the files before it sends then this is a serious issue. These files are only 6 seconds long for testing purposes. Never had this problem with iPhone ever. It only reduces the file size by allowing me to select start and end time. The quality received is high quality.

Is anybody actually testing this out themselves? Take your own video and text to yourself your significant other.

Again this isn't about loading and viewing a movie. It's about taking a video with the Z10 and sending to another person by text or email and on there end - NOT MINE! - the quality sucks.

Are you using a class 10 SD card in the Z10?
If you aren't using class 10 then the Z10 will only record in 720 or less depending on the SD card you have.

if you are sending through a text message, for sure it will be compressed. Even photos are compressed when sent using text message.

email i don't know? it shouldn't compress the file.

Turn off the stabilization and try again.

Stop sending it through those means and quality should improve.

My friend who has I phone says he gets the same issue when sending it is carrier based compression

That's right. I'll stop sending through those means and try sending through telekinesis. Wtf!? How else do you send videos? Makes no sense.

I can't even record in 1080p. The video starts to get really choppy and impossible to watch. The issue is only when it's being shot in 1080p, not 720p. Has anyone experienced the same problem?

I know theres a cap on the video size you can send. try contacting your carrier to see if they throttle it

If there was a cap it wouldn't send. There is a cap.

Are you guys failing to read my post and thought it would be better to provide obtuse answers that make no sense?

It's a normal thing to take a video and then send via mms. You don't send to grandma or your gf through Dropbox.

I by no means intend to answer in a sarcastic manner. Having said that you stated that the video is fine for you but not for them, could it be a problem with there phone maybe..?

I have read that u need a fast so card in order to record in 1080p smoothly. Or record to device memory.

Nothing to do with sending the video though.

Make sure shooting mode is set to "Normal" when recording a video, The stabilization feature is funky in video recording mode.

If people chime in to say they are not having the same issue on their phone, maybe it might lead you to another area to investigate like maybe it's the other person's phone(maybe they changed a setting, etc.), Carrier's policy, defective SD card, Defective Z10, etc.

    Anyhoo, good luck.

I just tested this with a 1080p video recorded for 10 seconds from the TV. I sent the video to my wife's Z10 thru MMS and there's no decrease in video quality from mine, the original, to her's, the MMS copy. I don't know what to tell ya, maybe the iOS and Android platforms can't handle the Z10 awesomeness...

Send a video that you know is good quality via mms, then to the same person send it via email, then upload to box or drop box, take a look at all three to review the quality I have received videos from my brothers iPhone 4s and now his iPhone 5 and the best way to get the original quality is through the cloud, a when he send to me through mms (from Rogers to Telus) the quality is straight out of 1993, this only makes sense can you imagine the bandwidth used up on Christmas day if everbody sent 30 second HD clips to grandma in New York it would completely yak the system, both the phones and the carriers are known to throttle or compress this stuff ti keep the network running.

    Thanks
