    On Bell, Ontario, Canada.

When using HSPA+ I get about 5M down, 2M up and 200-300ms ping times. If I switch to LTE I get very similar speed but slightly better upload. Measured using speedtest.net webpage.

My wife's Alcatel One Touch Idol nnX (cheap droid) gets 18M/4M/50ms... measured with Speedtest.net app.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Could Bell be throttling my Z10 to try and force me to upgrade? I don't remember my original performance but it was definitely much better than now.

Could just be the radio bb used or perhaps a newer radio would work better?

Hmm, might have found the answer.

Changed apn to pda.bell.ca and now data test shows 18M / 3M / 66ms on HSPA. Apn was set to BlackBerry.Net.

Will have to retest once I'm in LTE coverage.

Hmm, OK switched back to being slow again despite different apn.

Perhaps, my original conspiracy theory is still correct...

Should be no need for a bb10 device to use blackberry.net. That might have been the case for legacy.

I'm on Bell in Alberta, and the last few days I've had very inconsistent data speeds.

I just went to speedtest.net on my Z10 but I can't try it because it requires flash. Oy Vey!

    Most likely nothing is wrong.

Speed depends on how many users are connected to the tower at the same time. In downtown Toronto LTE speed is not much different than HSPA+. In every single moment you'll get different results, cell towers are crazy busy. I'm getting between 5Mbps-18Mbps down on both LTE/HSPA+, 1Mbps-10Mbps up. But when I move somewhere around GTA where LTE is available I'm getting LTE speeds up to 90Mbps down and 48Mbps up. Big difference.

So, one thing I figured out...

Using speedtest.net webpage numbers are always in range of 300ms ping, 5Mbps down, 2Mbps up.

I installed the android speedtest.net app and now my Z10 numbers are in the same ballpark as the droid phone ... 50-60ms ping, 18-20Mbps down, 5Mbps up.

So, I guess the flash-based webpage app just sucks.
