So I finally got my Verizon Z10 and they haven't released the OS update.
It's stuck on Software Release 10.0.9.422 and OS Version 10.0.9.2743.
I guess I'm stuck with poor battery life?

I am wondering the same thing. My Verizon Z10 is running the same OS.

Same here.....

Same here...found out by trying to install Whatsapp from BB World, won't install because of the older OS
Same here. Hopefully VZW will remedy SOON!
This isn't looking good for Verizon, at all. I'm not even going to open mine, Ill wait to see how all this goes and whether or not I should loose my unlimited data and go with AT&T
Spoke with a phone rep today who was able to walk over to a BBRY trainer and ask about this. Package 10.0.9.2744 Was certified on 3/26. You should get prompted to update your software during the activation process.
That IS the outdated software. They should be running a 10.0.10.XX version. No WhatsApp and other apps until they do.
Lol.. Don't act surprised. It's not as if Verizon was ever quick on their software updates.
All new smartphone sets are factory fitted with one O/S version. Depending on time of manufacture. Subsequently, when new software updates are out, they will have to be pushed to your devices by your carrier.

So has anyone received the update?
How does one check the version on their phone? I know I was prompted to update upon activation, but I don't recall exactly which version I updated to...

same here... really hope the update comes soon!!!!!
I am waiting on my pre-order to arrive via FedEx tomorrow, but I will wait to open till I see some 10.0.10.x news..or maybe just get one from att or tmobile and get pre-pay sim. I don't want to be stuck with only z10 model (with the largest US carrier no less) in the entire known galaxy, to be on 10.0.9.x AND be waiting for 'their' testing process to complete. But like Bla1ze said its Verizon so not too surprised. Btw I had to buy retail to keep unlimited data.
You guys should try updating using bb link without the sim cards on your bb, this method works for stl100-2 models even when the carrier haven't pushed it out yet.

Using the Link method worked for me. STL100-2, device told me software up to date, but when connected to Link and reloading the device software the device did get updated. (after this was done WhatApp could be installed, battery life increased)
Oh dont forget to backup your device beforehand since it would remove all of your data while updating.

Data isn't erase after updated, except you got error while updating.

:'(
More "testing"... NOOOOOOI
I have the same on my Z10 bought yesterday from VZW.
The OS version is about the highest I've seen for a 10.0.9.x version (anyone see anything higher on 10.0.9.x I'd love to know), so they probably did some back-porting of certain 10.0.10 bugfixes, I'd guess.
But yep, some apps are not going to install on this version.
FWIW, my initial test of outgoing SMTP was fine - which is good, since that was a serious issue with 10.0.10.x releases.
Though it does seem to indeed have a flaw in the Date field in outgoing messages - missing UTC offset string, which is why some people have reported problematic datestamps on messages originating on the Z10.
All that said, I've seen evidence of 10.0.10.X versions on some VZW employee's devices, so I assume that series is currently in testing at VZW.
(Edit: Corrected S/W version I have, I copied something down wrong..)
Definitely bringing me back to the storm days.
Hey bla1ze. I know you know people at blackberry. When are we getting a leaked update. Haha

anyone tried the blackberry link reload software features to upgrade?..with or without SIM might have worked..think so..just give it a try..
The experience with Verizon and Storm was one of the most miserable of my tech life. No thanks I will NOT go through it again! I will be refusing delivery later today. I nay check out AT&T. I hate this!
I have the same older version. Will try the BlackBerry Link shortly

I'd like to try the link update, but can someone confirm if I'm going to be back at factory defaults? I already spent all last night setting up this phone.
