I am in the US and travel to Spain regularly. I currently have a 9550 (Storm 2) and just pick up a Yoigo SIM card when I am in Spain but that is just 3G. All works well.

So, I am looking to buy a SIM-free Z10 and connect up to the T-Mobile network using Solavei (no contracts and unlimited everything for only $49/mo). But it appears there is little overlap between the LTE bands being used in the US and what Vodafone and others might or are using in Europe.

Can anyone clarify the situation? It appears I could use LTE in the US and just go back to 3G in Europe as the specs seem to have the same 3G bands as my 9550. I just want to make the right model choice the first time...help?

As all 4 Z10 versions are somehow World phones you should be able to use them around the world...

If you want to have LTE you may have problems as North America and Europe are not using all same frequency bands. In Europe for LTE the (1800/2600/900/800 MHz)
bands are used and in North America they are using (700/850/1700/1900 MHz) bands

So STL -2 for European LTE
    STL -3 for NA LTE
STL -4 for CDMA and Verizon LTE
    STL -1 for NO LTE

    3G coverage on all Z10s except STL-4

    2G coverage on all Z10s

So i would suggest you getting a NOT Verizon version.

Thanks. Looks like NA version (ATT/T-Mobile) and 3G in Europe.
