I recently acquired a white BlackBerry Z10 STL100-5. I purchased it unlocked from Ebay in hopes that I would be able to insert my AT&T SIM. It is a Verizon phone. Overall, the phone functions normally but it is only operating on EDGE (2G) speeds and data transfer is slow and video/streaming is impossibly slow. It doesn't seem like it is possible to change the APN. I was wondering if I could change the radio software via Sachesi or similar software or if the antenna itself is hardware that is unable to be altered. Responses here would be deeply appreciated. I am considering returning the device and getting a GSM compatible device. This white Z10 is my third Z10 and I really love the phones.

    Thank You

There is no way to change the radio, because the radio is hardware.. not software.

Return the phone and get a GSM model.

Not sure about the STL100-5.... as I've never heard of it.

The STL100-4 that I use from Verizon... does not support any other form of LTE other than FD-LTE/700Mhz. Neither does it have any support at all for HSPA. Which means you can roam onto GSM networks, but the fastest data link you can get is limited to 2.5G or 3G on those networks. I imagine Verizon likes it that way because it basically makes it impossible to take one of their phones to AT&T and get full functionality with it.

If you have the 4 variant from Verizon... it's not going to "really" work on AT&T and there is nothing you can do about it.

As said: you have a 100-4; no 100-5 Z10 exists. Verizon's unlocked GSM side is for overseas travel and is terrible on domestic GSM networks. Unscrupulous sellers are selling these phones as "unlocked" w/o bothering to tell buyers the rest.

Why does everything need to be spoon fed? Can't they be diligent enough to do their own research?

It's the nature of our nature, I guess. But if a phone is advertised as an "unlocked phone that will work on any GSM network"... technically that's true. It's the definition of "work" that's the issue. Sometimes think we need a sticky "Before buying..." But then, no one would read it anyway.
