If one was to purchase a used Z10 how would warranty work? It appears Blackberry does not sell the Z10 direct. On BB website, for any support/warranty type questions you are asked to contact your service provider.
Thanks for any info on this...

the warranty would have to be carried out with the carrier or store the device was purchased from.

Well that sort of sucks for all involved.
Thinking of buying a used Z10 just to play with but if there is no one standing behind product it knocks down the value of it somewhat.
I have a Playbook and I know Blackberry did warranty that (did not need it tho).

You should buy a used one that is locked to your carrier.

For example, if you had service from Rogers, you would need a Rogers phone for warranty to work. They don't care where you got it as long as it's their device.

If you bought a used bell phone and used it on a Rogers network unlocked and it broke Rogers wouldn't fix it as they would tell you it isn't a Rogers for device. And you wouldn't be able to get bell to fix it since you aren't a bell customer. Unless you had a friend on bell then they could give it to them for you.

    Happened to me.

So then any unlocked Z10 you see for sale, even if brand new, would not have any warranty? Something to be considered if thinking of buying a used or unlocked Z10.

    Thx

Thats a damn good question and id like to see a definitive answer. But my playbook wasnt branded to a carrier and its issue was repaired no problem and more than satisfactory I might add.

The warranty is generally extended to the original purchaser, if you buy it used from someone the company owes you know warranty
