I just did a back up and restore the same after the update. But if indeed some of the posters are not getting the update due to the model number, sorry. No harm in trying i guess.

This is a link i read from MattUK post in regard to STL-100-1 model:
You can update the STL100-1 device via the firmware over on OpensourceBB, make sure its the 0x04002607 full version, otherwise you end up with a new Dev Alpha splash screen and no apps!

I remember my Torch 9860... os7.1 wasn't available in kuwait until after 5 months of it's original release

i had my torch 9860 before the only update was shown by my carrier is 7.0
but at least we were able to download other carriers updates by deleting the vendor.xml

Best thing to do is pressure BB, and their presence on Twitter, to make the updates available independent of carriers.
And ignore the people who call you whiners
