    Hello Forum,

Just got my first BlackBerry 10 phone and I need to know how best to update to the latest carrier approved OS (10.2.0.1803)

Should I switchon, login and setup my new Z10 and then update?

Or is it better to update the OS via a pc connection and then go through the phone setup procedure?

It will check for an update from your carrier during your initial setup. Just let it do it and go get something to eat during that time.

Depends if your carrier has released 10.2. Then it should find the update easily during the intial setup when it checks for updates. If your carrier hasn't, you can still update to another carrier approved update by using Sachesi, a program you can find here in the forums themselves in this thread
If you are a little more adventurous, you could also load up the 10.2.1055 leak which is a huge improvement over 10.2 with things like the on device installation of apk's available, picture password and lot's of other improvements.

10.2 has not been officially released by any US Carriers. Just the way it is.

I did this with my wife's Z10. Installed 10.2 as soon as I pulled out of the box. Never set it up with an official os

Is your Z10 unlocked? I have an unlocked Z10 and my carrier (AT&T) hasn't released 10.2 yet. I was told that I can insert the Sim of a carrier that has pushed out a 10.2 update and my phone will update to that version. I have a Rogers Sim coming in the next few days to try it out. Might be an option for you if you're like me and are a little wary of installing a leak.

The OP hasn't indicated which carrier he/she is on. Other than the statement about which OS they believe is "official" on their carrier.

Based on that, I assumed the OP is not in the US.

honestly can't believe people would advise someone who is new to BlackBerry to install that leaked 1055 knowing full well that experienced BlackBerry users on this forum are having issues with it. Yea it's great that you can load android apps, but if you don't need that then there really is no reason to load that leak. Loading an official 10.2 is a much better suggestion imo. It's stable and provides some inhancements. The OP will be up and using their new device instead of having to spend who knows how many hours reading through the forums trying to figure out the bugs and kinks in that leak.
