I have a vzw Z10, and am doing everything I can to not load a leak of 10.1 for personal reasons. I have seen where someone has taken their phone to T-Mobile and a at there while using a T-Mobile sim and upgraded to the latest T-Mobile os on their unlocked phone. I have called verizon to verify, and also looked in my settings to verify that my phone is unlocked but when I went to T-Mobile and used one of the sim cards it loaded up and told me there was no network available. Any ideas why it's not working?

Because T-Mobile and Verizon use different network technology, the files from each carrier are generally incompatible.

Since you don't want to install a leak, waiting for Veri is your sole option.

I knew that (sort of) but thought I had read someone that did that. So is there any way I can upgrade without the leaks? I can't afford to lose my info and start over.

As far as I know VZW world phones are SIM locked to a certain carrier (can't remember who) because they have a contract with said carrier so that when you go to EU or wherever you are using that carrier for international roaming.

So the fact that it says I'm unlocked means nothing?

My expertise goes no further than what I posted, not a VZW customer and don't travel abroad. Just know I have been told in the past their world phones come locked to the carrier of the SIM VZW provides.
