Don't know if anyone else is having this problem - I'm unable to add contacts to my speed dial from the contact list. It works if added from a call that has come in. Don't know what/if I'm doing something wrong. Any thoughts or suggestions?

    First off, welcome to CrackBerry!

You have to add them from the Contacts tab in the Phone app. You can't add them from the Contacts app.

Is that how you were trying to do it?

Great to be here. Love my Z10. Yes, that's what I was doing but no luck.

I believe you have to add the contact as a favorite, like so:

John, adding favorite on the contacts works, however, can't seem to add to speed dial from the phone app.

What I do is open the dial app, then I go to contacts, I search, I open the desired contact and I press the specific phone number that I would like to speed dial

Ringo, that worked. Thanks much. All set now.

I have removed all of the contacts from speed dial, and when I try to add one in particular, it says unable to add, already set to speed dial....
    Any fix?

    Go into the phone app.

Swipe down from the top then tap Settings.

From the list, tap "Key press Speeddial".

You should now see a list of all your Speeddial keys that have been set. If you want to delete one of them, press and hold on the one you want to delete. A sidebar menu will pop up. At the bottom is the delete icon. Tap it.

I would do a deep restart where you press and hold the power button on the top of the phone. Hold it for approx. 20 seconds. Let the phone go thru the deep restart - it may take 3-5 minutes before the phone is restarted. After that, it will take a few more minutes before all the internal databases are re-indexed. At that point, the phone should allow you to add a new speeddial entry as normal.

If that doesn't work, then the only suggestion I would have would be for you to reload the operating system. Before doing that, make sure you run a full backup using BlackBerry Link.

Good luck. Let us know if that fixes it.

FYI: It's working fine on both the Z10 & the Z30 in our family here. It should work on yours as well... hopefully after the reload.

It works with every other number, except that one, which is my wife's, and most frequently dialed.

Interesting. Perhaps there is something different with how her contact is defined. Try deleting and re-adding her back into contacts. Make sure it is a Local contact type of entry.

If I understand your last posting, you can set speed dial #'s for any of your other contacts phone numbers... but not for your wife's? And the only speed dial number you have set currently is for voicemail?

I agree you should delete your wife's entry in your contacts. Then create a new contact.

Man, have you already reloaded the OS and it still doesn't work?

Patrick, Key press speed dial is different from speed dial on the main phone app screen. The key press option allows you to set one touch dialing using the phone keypad. The regular speed dial has to be set from the call log or the phone contacts only, not from the home screen contacts app, as instructed previously. Just long press on the number and select the star. It will then be accessed from the same phone screen that shows the voice mail icon. You can add 8 in addition to the voice mail. If the OP is getting that error for his wife, he probably has her number programmed in the key press setting. The star on the home contacts app just sets the contact as a favorite, which is not a speed dial.
